in regards to the Errol Flynn one, i checked a currency converter, and $150 in 1938 is the equivalent of just over $3100 today.

I absolutely could take a point off Serena Williams. I'd either be insanely lucky at some point during the match as I get absolutely butchered on the field or it's a pity point she gives me, but it's theoretically possible no matter how unlikely. Also, the 'Ph' in 'Phthisis' is not silent, it's a sound similar to an 'f', nor is the second 'h' silent, it's part of the 'th' digraph. The -tte of 'Gazette' is because it's a loanword from French that is feminine, the root is a '-t'. Which is usually silent.
considering the way they are already mangling the spelling/pronunciation, I doubt they care whether the root words are male or female. They'll gleefully violate either.

09-24-2022, 10:13 AM (This post was last modified: 09-24-2022, 10:13 AM by Norgarth.) A small stone of Rememberance in Fethard-on-Sea in Wexford. Samuel Parslow, along with 150 others aboard HMS Amphion, have the dubious honour of being the first casualties of World War 1, from the British Empire. The first Empire casualties came from Ireland. The last, from Canadia. There's something historical in that. I think - but I'm not 100% certain - he may have lived in me oulfella's place down there. That's a weird frond of history. I love the smell of rotaries in the morning. You know one time, I got to work early, before the rush hour. I walked through the empty carpark, I didn't see one bloody Prius or Golf. And that smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole carpark, smelled like.... ....speed. One day they're going to ban them. |
