Yeah, I had to consult explainxkcd.com for that one, too. Apparently, one of Alex's powers was to turn into "a puddle of liquid".

Oh, I knew that... thanks to The Secret Return at least, if not the few promos for the show I'd seen over the years before that. I just didn't make the conceptual leap the joke required, mainly I guess because I wouldn't think of her involuntarily draining away somewhere.
