The door to Leia’s quarters was opened not by his daughter, but by a very familiar droid.

“My apologies,” the droid said, showing no hint of recognition. Memory-wiped, unsurprisingly. “Mistress Leia is indisposed at present. Would you like to leave a message?”

“Ignore Threepio,” Leia called from behind the closed door of the lavatory. “I’ll just be a couple of minutes.”

Stepping inside, Vader was greeted by yet another familiar droid. This one rolled up to him, beeping and whooping excitedly.

Anakin, is that really you? I thought for sure you were dead!

“You know this man?” C-3PO asked the astromech.

R2-D2 beeped an affirmative. He’s the one who built you.

“He did? Then why didn’t you say anything about it before now?”

It never came up.

“What do you mean, ‘it never came up’? That’s never stopped you from doing anything!” To Vader, he said, “Since you are allegedly my maker, I suppose I do not need to introduce myself. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance once again.”

Vader recalled Luke had spoken of purchasing an “Artoo” and “Threepio”, but those were common nicknames for certain models of droid. It had actually been these two all along?

Is something wrong? R2-D2 asked. Why won’t you say anything, Anakin?

Leia emerged from the lavatory, her hair loose, dressed in brown pants and a cream tunic. She took in the scene before her with a sort of resignation. “What’s this about a maker?”

C-3PO turned to Leia. “I cannot recall it myself, but our obnoxious friend insists, and he has never given me cause to doubt his honesty.”

R2-D2 rolled over to Leia. First Obi-Wan pretends not to know me, and now Anakin won’t speak to me. But you still like me, right?

Leia smiled at the droid and stroked his dome, revealing that she didn’t understand binary when she said, “If this is the will of the Force, I have to wonder at its sense of humor.”

Camien Odyssey (Transformers, prolegomenon to More Than Meets the Spy) Chapter 5: What's Past is Prologue.

Okay, got the new chapter ready, and just a fair warning before we begin, it's gonna be a lot heavier on exposition than any of the prior chapters. A lot of that stems from the fact that Windblade's gonna be getting a crash course on the Thirteen Primes in this series as well as what Caminus missed out on. She's also gonna be learning a few things about the eras after the Thirteen, so that's adding to the expo dumps.

I tried my best to make everything as organic as possible, though I have no clue on how well I did on that front. So... hope you all enjoy!

Also, just as an FYI for helping readers in visualizing things and because I don't think I described it previously, but Windblade currently lacks the red facial markings that she had around her optics in canon. As stated in previous chapters, the tradition and practice of City Speaking was lost to Caminus, and the red facial marking aspect is done by City Speakers in honor of their planet's namesake Titan. So, with the art of City Speaking lost, Windblade never got the red markings around her optics because she isn't a City Speaker... yet.

Do be expecting that part to come up later though.

In the course of Abu-Fadl’s long and storied career, he initially uncovered the use of Nadder quills as an abortificant from collating various records and medical journals written by his predecessors over the centuries. Then, after obtaining a sufficient supply for experimentation from Berk, he proceeded to find a way with the chemical resources available to him to make the Nadder venom safer to administer. This particular topic was of great importance to him due to personal family tragedies earlier in his life, a fact which he emphasized continuously in his writings. The irony there is that his discovery drew the attention of Berk, and his introduction into dragon biology as a full-time concern. While the events of his emigration to Berk’s territory are also storied due to the surrounding chaos, once he arrived there, he settled in as a tenured professor at the University of Vedrarfjord, a position he held for the rest of his life.

A child was scolded for spilling his drink. Two elderly women bickered, jabbing their chopsticks at one another rudely, but with laughter in their eyes. A gasp went up from a group watching the sky as they glimpsed a hound diving in and out of the clouds. A hundred, hundred little interactions of joy.

This was well. Ling Qi felt the constant itch and burn in her recovering meridians lessen, just a little, like freshly applied balm on her skin.

"It's not grandstanding if everyone really is gathered for you."

"Not the point,” Ling Nuan complained. “I don't want to go around overawing people. I was just caught up in the moment."

"No one is overawed,” Ling Qingge corrected. “Shocked, perhaps, at your style, but I believe everyone enjoyed the piece."

Her mother straightened up from Biyu, who immediately undoed (sic) all her work of wiping her face by doing her best to stuff an entire plum cake into her bulging cheeks. Ling Qi didn't have the heart to point it out. Better to let her little sister finish and then get scolded by Mother.
