Lost/Dead Fics -- a Wish List
RE: Lost/Dead Fics -- a Wish List

Was just doing some digging through my bookmarks, and found out that Ghost in the Evangelion has been officially declared dead by the author, though at least they were nice enough to put out all their aborted plans for future chapters in one final post.

Oh, and another fic just turned up in my Kindle rotation that I really wish were brought back to life:

Harry Potter and the Witch Queen. After a long war that has left Great Britain a wasteland and has shattered both Europe and the Statute of Secrecy, Voldemort still remains undefeated and Hermione Granger has fallen to Darkness. But despite having gained great power from a bargain with the hidden Fae, she is still unable to kill the immortal Dark Lord. As a last resort, she sends Harry back in time twenty years to when he was eleven, using a dark ritual with a terrible sacrifice.

A Harry Potter Peggy Sue story where Harry comes back from a Bad Future where they never found (or even identified) all of Voldemort's horcruxes, is suffering from PTSD and has no freaking clue what to do to change things. It actually was updated for the first time in many years back in 2020, but seems to have stalled out again.

I’ve been recently made aware of the Worm AU fic Atonement: https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/...-au.312449

Where Taylor died in the locker, causing Madison so much guilt that she triggered and became an in-universe version of Spider-Man. Really good, and I wish that it will be continued at some point.

Atonement had a pretty good 4th Endbringer too.

The author also has another worm-fic, Intrepid, an AU where Taylor wasn't killed but was hospitallized for a time (turns out she was having a hard time learning to use her new powers).  Madison, Emma, and even Sophia end up having guilt based heel-face turns (it takes a while to work thru Sophia's denial admittedly) and Emma and Madison trigger from said guilt. Each chapter follows the viewpoint of one of the 4 as they live their cape lives.  for most of the story they don't know about each other's cape identities (other than Emma knowing Sophia is Shadow Stalker) as each end up with a different cape group.

Over 200 chapters, though it also has been dormant for almost a year now.  Very much an AU though, the Brockton Bay Brigade never converted to New Wave, several of the younger characters have different powers (both Amy and Vicky's powers are different for example), there's another group of Class S murderhobos called the Seven Sins who have a long running feud with The S9 (as in both groups occasionally kill one of the other group's members), a few other major difference that come up later

He also has 2 original stories that he's still updating (Heretical Edge and Summus Proelium, both found here) those update each Mon/Wed/Fri alternating between the stories.  I used to read both but fell behind and haven't found time to get caught up.

Thank you for the recs. I'm still working through Atonement and I adore it. Will download the other one to read after I finish this one and a couple more including a Supergirl one.

So, I've been clearing out the back end of my Kindle fanfiction folder, reading stuff I haven't looked at in a decade or more and deleting stuff I no longer liked, and I came across Harry Potter and the Long Kiss Goodnight by "aglondier". Ten chapters, not quite 51K words and abandoned in 2008. Inspired by the Geena Davis movie The Long Kiss Goodnight, this would have been an amazing story had it ever been finished. Even so, what's there is a fun read, defies a lot of fanon, and takes some interesting spins on a few bits of canon. The author last updated his page at ff.net in 2012 where he claims his apathy "appears to be abating", but that's apparently the last he's ever written/posted.

This is one of those stories where I have to warn potential readers -- don't pick this up if you don't want a massive "ah, damn!" moment when you reach its end and you have to acknowledge it'll almost certainly never be finished.

And here's one I just discovered a few days ago: A Worm fic, a kind of WAFFy Taylor/Amy thing, majorly AU, called Legion, by "NeverTooOld". Stops far too early at chapter 24, posted in February 2017. The author's notes on several of the last few chapters mention all manner of serious health issues, and one can only wonder if NeverTooOld passed away without anyone knowing.

Jey. anyone remember a DBZ fic where Goku & Vegita's kids, wives/girlfriends, and kids' wives/girlfriends got wished to be full-blooded Saiyajin? I'm relatively confident the author was Dave Tatum, but remember that the copy I saved years ago (and of course can't find) had no title listed.

One of the girls, I think Bulma, hot really into it after years of being syuck on the side lines and would end their training days by grabbing her man's hand, pulling it up against her, and having him blast her before being put in a healing tank for the zenkai boost, but that's the only specific detail I recall at the moment.

If anyone manages to get in touch with Kenko, please let me know?  I worry about the guy.  Dropped off the face of the 'net a while back, and the fanfiction.net stuff was, I suspect, uploaded by someone else -- though I can't be sure.

I was the guy running the official Girl Days (and the other stuff he wrote) site for the longest time, y'see.  When he dropped out of sight, he dropped fast. Sad

I was just reminded of this when looking at this thread... and clicked on the link on a lark. Kenko apparently added a new fic last February -- his first in a *really* long time. I didn't get an alert at the time (or missed it, or forgot about it), but... good to know he's still around.

Fun punchline, though.

Here's another I just stumbled over in the back end of my Kindle's Fanfiction folder:

Elementary Calculations by KCourtKat.

"Summary: After finding his magic earlier, a decidedly non-Gryffindor Harry Potter plots his way to success." Thirteen very good chapters turned out between April and August 2008, and then... nothing.

And no sooner do I post that than I come across another one. This is very much a "lost" fic, and not just a dead one:

A Door Ajar by "Beautiful T Jakson" [sic], from 2010. Another Harry Potter fic, in which intemperate words by both Vernon and Harry while Ron and the twins are rescuing him from the Dursleys are a butterfly that results in a massive cascade of changes from canon. Well written, and has the unique distinction of being the only fic I've ever read where, upon learning that Harry is planning on leaving Hogwarts and going to another school, Dumbledore does not try anything stupid, manipulative or underhanded to keep him there. Instead, he hires experts to help him make the school better and safer in the hopes that it will allay Harry's concerns about the safety of his friends and himself. (Not that it helps.)

I have eleven chapters of this fic in my Kindle, and when I went to see if there were more, I discovered that its fanfiction.net page simply displayed "Story Not Found Story is unavailable for reading." The Wayback Machine sadly captured only three widely-spaced chapters before the story was blanked sometime between 2016 and 2019, but one of those is its chapter 14, which judging by the page header was the last chapter written for the story, back in 2012.

Google doesn't turn up anything for it anywhere else on the web, so I'm presuming it has been well and truly lost.

I'll mention a relatively recent fic by CV12Hornet: Truly One in One Million.

Alt-Nanoha where she never met Yuuno or Fate, and the TSAB thought that the combination of Jewel Seeds and the Book of Darkness must have destroyed Unadministered World 97. But when Captain Chrono Harlaown chases Fate Testarossa (believed to be acting on Jail Scaglietti's orders) to Unadministered World 97, he discovers the planet's still there and somebody's using some of the Jewel Seeds to power an orbital installation. Said somebody being Nanoha, of course. No, Hayate's not with her, and there's a very good reason why...

Seven chapters that explained what happened to Hayate and her knights, then nothing for four years. At least, nothing on FF.net.

Where the heck did that orbital installation come from? Will Chrono ever get to meet Hayate? And what does Fate want with Earth? We might never know...

Indeed. I just finished reading/rereading it. Shame it never got more. Also shame all of the author's stories were taken down (presumably by the author? Don't see an explanation...).
