Harry's return to Hogwarts turns out to be a bittersweet one, as while his friendship with Hermione is growing stronger and he's gained new friends in Luna and Neville (he's pretty sure Neville wants to be friends anyway), his friendship with Ron is deteriorating before his eyes and there doesn't seem to be much he can do about it despite his efforts. Harry also finds himself missing Lyra quite a lot, and there's also the lingering paranoia in the back of his mind about the Triwizard Tournament that Dumbledore announced at the start of the year.
On October 30th when the Beuxbatons and Durmstrang delegations arrive, Harry and Hermione make two new friends out of two people they would have least expected it from, and Harry is confronted with the fact that there may be more to Hermione and her feelings towards their 'friendship' than meets the eye - but he barely has time to think about that, as tomorrow is Halloween when the Triwizard Champions will be chosen...
“We can never undo what we have done. We can never go back in time. We write history with our decisions and our actions. But we also write history with our responses to those actions. We can leave the pain and the damage in our wake, unattended, or we can do the work of acknowledging and fixing, to whatever extent possible, the harm that we have caused.”
