Yay, we're back.
Yay, we're back.

My ISP's tech support hasn't gotten back to me yet about what happened, but it's clear that my website and forums are no longer returning 503 errors.

A big thank you to Brad and the team at NetCarrier for their very prompt response to my call this morning (and a strong suggestion that the AI who took my call yeterday morning needs to ask for more information when opening a ticket).

Also thank you to those who emailed me to let me know about the outage on the perfectly reasonable assumption that, being as it was a holiday weekend in the US that I typically spend almost continuously with family, I may not have noticed. I had, but I appreciate your efforts.

Yay, we're back again.

This most recent outage, I was informed by my ISP's tech support, was due to a security issue involving the SQL engine on which the forums run and they had to bring it down to solve it. This had nothing to do with the 504s a couple weeks ago.

However, my email also went down and is still down -- or rather, I'm getting failures to authenticate with my current credentials. I've followed up with tech support on that; I've yet to hear back from them, but I suspect it might simply be they changed my password as part of this security issue. I'll let people know when it's working again.
