I figured out why I was confused. Neon Exodus Evangelion used a Hawaiian volcano, and my recall pulled up the wrong story.

I never got that far in NXE (just the first season), but I do recall that it relocated NERV to "Worcester-3." Why Worcester of all places would've been rebuilt twice is beyond me, though, was that ever explained? Pronounced "shy guy."

You're mixing up the 'verses. NXE isn't in the UF 'verse, it's separate. Why Worcester? Never explained.
