the matrix?
the matrix?
#1
okay I know it might not be a good idea but...I had a very weird idea on my drive to college to take my exam finals.
What happens when doug uses his power from "lightning hand" in the MATRIX universe.
I mean... well the ability to hack the matrix directly? able to jump into the matrix without jacking in? all other assorted weird things? oh yeah also the ability to shoot down sentinels?

First off, I haven't yet seen "Revolutions", so I don't know any of the secrets, if any, revealed therein. Secondly, don't tell me any spoilers; I'm still hoping to catch the film before it heads to video.
Anyway
If he were outside the Matrix, he definitely could jack in using "Lightning's Hand". In fact, you have already seen, and you will be seeing, something very similar in DW2. Hacking it? Hard to say; probably, if he recognized the language. He could use the power to brute-force some control (see below), but he'd really have to look at the code and modify it to really hack the Matrix. In short, he could probably pull a couple tricks in the style of "The One", but not all of them, and not with the same level of ease.
Shoot down sentinels? V&V's Lightning Control power would let him take them over and run them like puppets, after selectively burning out their higher intelligence centers. Depending on how physically tough sentinels are, that might even be easier than slinging lightning bolts at them until they drop.

Bob--
Don't bother seeing Revolutions. In fact, if possible, forget that you saw Reloaded.
Whatever you _imagine_ the sequels would be like, they're bound to be way, way, better than what was actually made. All of the Matrix stuff other than the first movie itself basically sucks.

Thanks for the warning, Captain, but if I can still find it, I'll probably go anyway. I'm a completist, basically.

well its not that bad. its just did not fully use much of what the first movie had. think of it as unused potential. Tongue

I rather liked Reloaded and Revolutions. Granted, from the reviews I've read that puts me in a minority but I'm not unused to that.

I rather liked Animatrix. Reloaded was OK and Revolutions I could have done without, but I'm also a completist.[Image: kokbanner.jpg]

Me, too, actually.
Hey, did anyone else realize that the kid who gave Neo the handmade spoon in "Reloaded" was probably the skateboarder from Animatrix?

Welp, I can tell you my take on the Matrix series, which may help those watching it.
I watched Reloaded on DVD shortly before I saw Revolutions, and it made for a somewhat different experience for me. The 2nd and 3rd movie are actually quite good by themselves as a set. They only really fall down when taken as sequels to The Matrix.
Fine, so treat them like the TV series version of an OAV. Big Grin Worked for me.--

Actually the skateboarder (if I remember correctly) is the really annoying kid who's follows Neo around in "Reloaded". The spoon is from the kid who was with the oracle in the first movie and was freed by the time the second movie rolled around.

I thought they were both the same kid. Well, it has been six months or whatever since I saw "Reloaded"...

which is about the time it came out.
hmm I wonder why they had such a rushed schedule? 6 months between movies is SHORT.

Actually, Revolutions and Reloaded were made pretty much in parallel - they were ready at about the same time. The six-month delay was mostly for marketing reasons, so that the financial backers could get more money out of each movie by not having them competing with one another for box-office dollars.
