Fenspace - the Art Thread
Fenspace - the Art Thread
#1
Anybody who's ever worked with me on a group project knows that I'm something of a frustrated CG artist and when I get bored enough to be inspired, stuff like this happens:

And for a more artistic arrangement:

I can't say when (or even if) the next picture will happen, much less what it'll be, but for now let this be the designated Art Thread. Reference pictures, fanart, whatever, post it all here. The Commisar Has Spoken.---

Nifty! I had a somewhat different idea for how Stellvia looked, but this is better...

Yeah, I dug around but couldn't find a description of how Stellvia was put together except for the "six ETs welded together" in the Registry description, so I went for a good old-school Von Braun wheel when I did the kitbash.---

A Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter, the model used as the base of Mr Morden's Saint Bernard and probably several others (doesn't that nose just scream 'War Rocket Ajax' to you?)D for Drakensis

Very, very, very nice. I only wish I could do as well.
If you ever get the urge to show the Grover's Corners in a pic, just remember that despite the quick descriptions it's not a sphere, but a very flattened spheroid -- it looks more like a pudgy flying saucer than a ball.

Here's a link to a picture of the sort of lines the Pinafore has: linky
The ship itself is too big for the Pinafore but add a pair of warp nacelles towards the aft...

That first Stellvia image has been bugging me. The Wheel 'O Tanks is a pretty hideous kludge CG-wise, and I know I can do better than that. Which brings us to Stellvia model #2:
The tanks aren't overlapping here, instead I've put in an elbow joint to connect each one (though the joint probably ought to cover the entire forward cone... thoughts for model #3, no doubt) the "spokes" are a bit wider, and the central core module is a little taller & not quite as wide compared to the rest of the structure.
Anyway, Stellvia.---

Hmmmmm... Ah - it needs docking ports; there's not much point to a resort/trading post if nobody can dock with it. Maybe at every second corner joist...?
