[RFC] [URGENT] Worldcon flyer?
[RFC] [URGENT] Worldcon flyer?
#1
So as most of you know, I'm at Worldcon this week. While looking at the fan pamphlet area, I had the thought of setting out a flyer for Fenspace, just to see if we get any new interest. I've got a flyer design blocked out, so all I need to do is print it out & get a few billion copies made.

Is this a good idea? Respond ASAP.

Hmm. I must admit, it might be interesting to see new people come into Fenspace. If you're willing to post the flyers, I say go for it.

Fnord, remember that if any new interest is generated it means more work for you as Moderator/Chief Editor. Do you think you can cope with that?

I know I haven't been active recently [Image: embarassed.gif], but I say if you think you can handle an influx of new people then go for it.

I'm certainly not averse to this. Go for it.

If you point them at the story collection (so that they can get a feel for the setting first), then I don't mind...

For good or ill, the flyer's created and will go out as soon as I can find a copier to make a hundred or so copies. What happens next... we'll see.

Any chance you can eventually scan it and put an image somewhere we can see it, just to sate our curiosity?

Oh, yeah, Fnord for the win.

I agree with BA, an illo of some sort would have been the perfect icing for this cake, but if this doesn't pull in some new folks as-is, I'll be very
surprised.

I say the illo should be Benjamin riding atop a blazing Magnificent Midnight and waving around a cowboy hat a la that bomber pilot from Dr. Strangelove -or- How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Big Grin
Or maybe something similar with Ptichka and her pet humans.  Wink

Find a competent artist who can get that shit done & posted here by midnight MDT tonight (8/8/08) and I'll see what I can do.

I'd say to get onto deviant Art, hop on to their chat channels and start poking.

So... have there been any signs of results yet?

Nothing immediate. I set out roughly 40 flyers out of a print run of 100 on Thursday, and at the last time I checked just before closing ceremonies today about
half of them were gone, so.

That could have simply been pamphlet grazing. I guess we'll have to watch for newbies starting in that forum.
