That's just one example, I've discovered several threads where every post past the first is telling me it cannot be restored.  I'm not sure of a pattern yet and am just wondering if this is a known thing or if there's been some wonky database corruption that's slipped by somehow.

If I recall correctly, those posts are victims of the ezboard "oopsie" that toasted a substantial fraction of the forums, back before yuku bought out ezboard.

That is indeed the case. ezBoard's great crash lost us the contents of a large number of threads except for their first posts. They remain partly because of inertia on my part, partly for historical reasons, and partly because in many cases the first posts are still of use/interest.
