Well, the ban may play in Peoria, but it isn't going over too well with the GOP in Congress. Orrin Hatch, of all reactionary people — Forward to the 19th Century! — expressed a feeling that it wasn't a good policy.

There are 18 countries (not including the USA) where openly transgender people are allowed to serve in the military. http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/countries- ... -1.4222205 Among these countries are Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada - all NATO members. The POTUS does not have hiring and firing authority over allied militaries, and NATO militaries are expected to work together during exercises and times of emergency.
