Interesting.... hmm. I'll get started on a bit about my reaction to the non-response then (since I doubt that anybody is within range of me). I just findit amusing that the teleporters so outrange the comms though.

Well, the teleporters literally can take you anywhere in the blink of an eye, in-game... but they require two hours to recharge
Anywhere... including alternate realities, across the street, or any place in between.

So I'm assuming a jaunt to/from, say, Australia (hi MD!) isn't a problem at all for the little things, but that recharge time is a pain in the butt
(just like in-game).

It might be a sensible limitation for the mission transporter that it can only be programmed for a location the programmer knows about. So mission locationsare okay, because City Hall can map geographic coordinates for anywhere in the "game zone".

But to teleport from Australia to America would require that someone who's familiar with both locations program those places into the machine. MD might be
limited initially to places he's been to in the States before he can add more.

Well, we've already demonstrated that GPS coordinates are (a) susceptible to human error (ie, I looked them up/transcribed them wrong), (b) susceptible tohuman error (MD punched them in wrong), or (c) slightly inaccurate (how many decimals should we have gone out to, again?)

Or you could go with the physics approach, such that there's a Circular Error of Probability going on, which of course means that the 'longer' the
range, the greater your displacement away from true center on your target...

I dunno, I don't see the need for artificial limits on them. Seems to me the recharge is a pretty decent one as-is.

The first time around, they got coordinates for the teleporter, but obviously they were a bit off mark (MD landed in a river... not quite where he wanted togo). Silver updated the thing though so it has a built in location for his home in Australia and Spud's garage, which is what he uses it for now.

The Cheoptics comment I make in my latest post can be seen here
It's a promising first step to practical holographic displays. Of course, its the size of a barn, and is more like an eye-trick 2D display, but you gotta start somewhere...

It only took me a minute to figure out Cheoptics. There's nothing revolutionary there, and it's certainly not holographics -- it's nothing more than a free-standing implementation of Pepper's Ghost , best seen these days in the tea party room of Disney's Haunted Mansion. The giveaway was the inverted pyramid shape, the stray light on the supports, and the talking head's comment that ordinary film content can be used. Each side of that pyramid is just a sheet of glass, directly beneath which is a very bright projector.

well I started work on Clanks little infamous network before Fox made the suggestion that SG channels would be continent spanning. But it can still serve as alocal pairing server.

Aka: Clank is paired with servers, if another member of the infamous pairs with servers, both of them should show up in the SG list at that point. Even if
Clank is out of range at that point.

If any of the Ninja Trio are in (or pass through) the CA bay area they should see the infamous channel pop up with the following MOTD:

"The Infamous Message of the Day -- Acting-admin: Clank Patrol. New base is still under construction. If I'm not on leave a message and I'll get
 back to you."

I think the Ninja bunch are all (I know of Valles, Fox, and me. Likely Kaeda too.) on the other coast, planning to meet somewhere in the New England/Northeastarea. I think Clank'll be somewhat by her lonesome til the comms are all set.

Don't know. I was working under the assumption that channels that required invite status (SG or other private channels) had some decent crypto behind them.
So he may be able to tell that there is something in the area, but I would assume that he can't see what it is.

So I'll retype it another time.

I'll echo Logan on this, I do all my writing in a very simple (aka plain text only) text editor.
Heck, if I'm doing a significant amount of commenting I'll thrash it out there as well.

It allows me to better organize my thoughts and see the whole thing at one time, rather than just a paragraph or two that will fit in the reply box.

		Rev - and others -
If you cut/paste into the actual 'add reply' form, you maintain your formatting and whatnot. If you cut/paste into the quick reply form, however, that
only accepts plaintext.

		Concur.
What I do as well is - see that button up there that says Tx? It removes all text formatting. ALL of it. I use that, and then go back and re-format where
 necessary.

Better that then go to all the trouble and have Yuku eat my post.
