In this case, though, it was more like the dreams I get when I take a cold medicine with pseudo-ephedrine in it -- endlessly chasing their own tails and not restful at all.

In this case I'll go out on a limb and guess it was your subconcious expressing frustration... the interviews that go no where are the romans, and no matter how many you slay they just keep coming.
