IST25 Outline, as of 10/22/2013
IST25 Outline, as of 10/22/2013
#1
(Bob, 5/23/2025: The new thread in this area made me go back here and try to clean up the outline. Well. MyBB apparently doesn't handle indented lines well, no matter how you try to do them in-editor. I'm probably going to have to create some custom markup to do it, in my copious free time. In the mean time, at least the line breaks have been fixed.)

Just what it says on the tin -- for comments, suggestions, and "hey, you told me you'd use X but it's not there".

Page counts aren't final -- hell, I haven't even totaled them up yet to see if I'm near a multiple of 16 (although as I expect this to be a PDF, getting the page count to an integer number of signatures is unlikely to be particularly critical).

Page counts aren't final -- hell, I haven't even totalled them up yet to see if I'm near a multiple of 16 (although as I expect this to be a PDF, getting the page count to an integer number of signatures is unlikely to be particularly critical).
I count 147 pages. Add 1 for the e23 ad, and that's 9.25 signatures.

If it's important to hit an integer, I'd add a few items rather than taking any away. One could possibly fill 4 of those 12 pages with an overview of IST Kingston (assuming Modern Myth Publishing is willing to allow that)...

Like I said, given that this is almost certainly going to be a PDF, I probably don't have to hit an integer signature count. But I'll be checking before I submit.

Well, "General Nippon Orbital Manufacturing" was in the original IST.

"Moonbase Drax"... Do you need a Shuttle to reach it?

As for "Ulysee Merou", I don't expect anything to be blown up.

Did I miss any?

Bob, if you were going to submit this any time soon, you might want to hold off for a few days. Austin got hit by flash floods yesterday - SJGames and Steve himself are okay, but Steve's house was totalled. He has other things to think about right now.

I know, I've been following the news from SJG. Even if the outline were done, I would have to write the text sample yet. And I'm nowhere near that.

Let us know if you'd like any new supers to include. I'm sure I can come up with _something_, gratis.

Will do, thanks. There are a whole bunch already in 4th Ed writeup here that I'll be mining, though.

Bob, before you go much farther, you should read posts #13-17 in this thread. Your page count might be far too high, and the submission process has changed...

I've got a first draft of the inquiry letter written; I'll let it sit overnight, review/revise it tomorrow, then probably send it off. I'll let you all know when to wish me luck.

Since the 25th anniversary of IST is in 2016, I might still have enough lead time to manage that part. But even if I don't, IST 2E is still a good thing to try for.

Very cool and very good news.
Sorry I haven't been around much--life gets in the way sometimes.

Trust me, I know how that goes. Life in the way is one reason this wasn't done months ago.

The majority of issues has passed . . .. I'm going to make an effort to be around more.

Got anything you need from me?
Any books I need to send you?

Nope, I'm cool for the moment. Right now it's a waiting game.

Bob Schroeck Wrote:AA,  Sample Characters (24 pages)
4th Edition versions of selected characters important to IST
history and current events, along with new players on the
   international stage.
BB  Members and Allies (12 pages)
   BB  Foes (12 pages)
How many characters are you planning to cover, and in how much depth? Bear in mind that the Fourth Edition Basic Set gave each of its iconic characters a two-page spread, two-and-a-half in the case of C31R07. On the other hand, each of the characters in GURPS Fantasy's "Roma Arcana" setting gets a column or two of a three-column page. If those be the upper and lower limits, which end of the spectrum would we tend towards for whom?

I was planning 1 page per character, so 24 characters in low-to-moderate depth.

I hope it works out.

Also, any thoughts on the identity of Witchwind's successor as supreme commander? Because I've had an idea that's so wrong it might be perfect: Brigid "Pouka" Dunsmuir. OSmile

Ha! I wonder what she got up to in the last 25 years to make her the right candidate, in that case.

Possibly just still being around, and being relatively young. (By the latter criterion, it was either her or La Triomphe -- Farah was actually my first pick, until I read over her stats and noticed her Combat Paralysis.) But still, it's been 25 years; she's had time to mellow, and to buy up her self-control numbers. Smile
