Another song possibility
08-11-2006, 09:26 PM
Genesis "Jesus he knows me"
You see the face on the TV screen
coming at you every Sunday
see that face on the billboard
that man is me
On the cover of the magazine
there's no question why I'm smiling
you buy a piece of paradise
you buy a piece of me
I'll get you everything you wanted
I'll get you everything you need
don't need to believe in hereafter
just believe in me
Cos Jesus he knows me
and he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
oh yes he knows me
and he knows I'm right
and he's been telling me
everything is alright
I believe in the family
with my ever loving wife beside me
but she don't know about my girlfriend
or the man I met last night
Do you believe in God
cos that's what I'm selling
and if you wanna get to heaven
I'll see you right
You won't even have to leave your house
or get outta your chair
you don't even have to touch that dial
cos I'm everywhere
And Jesus he knows me
and he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
oh yes he knows me
and he knows I'm right
well he's been telling me
everything's gonna be alright
Won't find me practising what I'm preaching
won't find me making no sacrifice
but I can get you a pocketful of miracles
if you promise to be good, try to be nice
God will take good care of you
just do as I say, don't do as I do
I'm counting my blessings,
I've found true happiness
cos I'm getting richer, day by day
you can find me in the phone book,
just call my toll free number
you can do it anyway you want
just do it right away
There'll be no doubt in your mind
you'll believe everything I'm saying
if you wanna get closer to him
get on your knees and start paying
Cos Jesus he knows me
and he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
oh yes he knows me
and he knows I'm right
well he's been telling me
everything's gonna be alright, alright
Jesus he knows me
Jesus he knows me, you know...

Makes people in the area of effect tend to believe Doug, and causes them to ignore actions of his that contradict his words.
It's not always effective, as strong wills and magical resistances reduce or eliminate the effect. Of course, those who are naturally gullible might be effected even after the song ends. 8)__________________

Givne DOug's genberal reaction to anything divine, and the fact that when he plays stuff referencing a particular power, they tend to NOTICE, even if they don't pop right up and say "Wazzup?" I kind of doubt he'd be willing to use it. Well, unless he was doing something he'd be really sure Jesus would approve of, and had no other way to do it.

MATTHEW WILDER - "Break My Stride"
Last night I had the strangest dream
I sailed away to China
In a little row boat to find ya
And you said you had to get your laundry cleaned
Didn't want no-one to hold you
What does that mean
And you said
Ain't nothin' gonna to break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down, oh-no
I got to keep on movin'
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground
Oh-no, I got to keep on movin'
You're on a roll and now you pray it lasts
The road behind was rocky
But now you're feeling cocky
You look at me and you see your past
Is that the reason why you're runnin' so fast
And she said
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down, oh-no
I got to keep on moving
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground
Oh-no, I got to keep on moving
Never let another girl like you, work me over
Never let another girl like you, drag me under
If I meet another girl like you, I will tell her
Never want another girl like you, have to say
Ooooooh
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Oh-no, oh-no, I got to keep on moving
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch the ground
Oh-no, I got to keep on movin'
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Oh-no, oh-no, I got to keep on moving
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch the ground
Oh-no, I got to keep on movin'
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Oh-no, I got to keep on moving
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch the ground
Oh-no, I got to keep on movin'
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Oh-no, oh-no, I got to keep on moving

The Power that occured to me while listening to this on the radio was something like Marvel's Juggernault. Once Doug starts moving, he can smash through/past andthing that gets in his way. He's immune to damage from the barriers he breaks through or from attacks intended to stop him (attacks intended to simply hurt him still work). Attempts to deflect/alter Doug's course may or may not be effective.__________________

Weird Al's 'Rye or the Kasier'
creates a deli sandwich, customised to Doug's wishes. Not a really useful song, but handy when he wants a quick bite to eat. 8)__________________

Hey, a sandwich can be useful! One time I got a natural 20 on my Sandwich roll, and was able to use the resulting super-sandwich to bribe a ... well, it was some monster smart enoguh to talk ... to leave the party alone when we bumped into it right after a big fight!

Quite right. Doug would avoid this one at almost all costs.

Wow. I haven't heard that one in a long long time. I'm going to have to remember to find a copy. Quote: The Power that occured to me while listening to this on the radio was something like Marvel's Juggernault.
Oooh, yeah, I like that. Maybe require that he get into a rhythm first, not just get moving, but yeah.

I'd rather define it as "summoning", otherwise it ceases to exist when the song ends.
Oh, and I think the actual title is something like "Theme to Rocky XIII".

After checking my CDs, the official title is "The Rye or The Kaiser (Theme From Rocky XIII)". So we were both right. 8)__________________

Which has its own problems, given the general nature of summoning. Summoning the closest sandwich that meets the requirements could create enemies, depending on where that sandwich is coming from.Ebony the Black Dragon

Sandwich-space, of course. A nearby adjacent continuum whose natural laws allow for the spontaneous generation of deli sandwiches -- and only deli sandwiches.

The Beatles - "Nowhere Man"
He's a real nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man, please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command.
(Lead Guitar)
He's as blind as he can be,
Just sees what he wants to see,
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?
Nowhere Man, don't worry,
Take your time, don't hurry,
Leave it all till somebody else
lends you a hand.
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man, please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command.
He's a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.

Heard this song today and had a power idea pop into my head.
2 effects depending on if Doug targets it on someone else or on himself. Both link to the song's length (2:44)
a) Doug targets himself: Doug transports himself into a foggy void (between dimensions?) for the duration of the song.
When it's over, he reappears where he was before, but instead of a little under 3 minutes having past, he was gone 2 hours and 44 minutes.
b) Doug targets someone else. They get tossed into the void for the length of the song, but _they_ feel like they were in there for 2 hours and 44 minutes. (and will likely be caught off guard when they do reappear)__________________

I like version 2 better. Nice effect. A little too powerful for the game, maybe, but good story potential.
