The Last Possible Gate song
The Last Possible Gate song
#1
Home To Stay
by Josh Groban

I know you're gone
I watched you leave
I always thought
That it was me
You made it clear
With that last kiss
You couldn't live a life
With maybe's and whatif's
When every boat
Has sailed away
And every path
Is marked and paved
When every road
Has had its say
Then I'll be bringing you back
Home to stay
I have the cards you sent to me
You wrote of trains and Paris galleries
This spring you'll draw
Canals, and frescoed walls
Look how far your dreaming's gone
When every town looks just the same
When every choice gets hard to make
When every map is put away
Then I'll be bringing you back
Home to stay
And now I know why you had to go alone
Isn't there a place between
When every boat
Has sailed away
And every path
Is marked and paved
When every road
Has had its say
Then I'll be bringing you back
Home to stay
Reach out to me
Call out my name
And I would bring you back again
Today

I'd consider this the last gate song.

Maybe, but if it were so obvious Doug would have tried it by now... I quite honestly have no idea what the last gate song will be -- my plans, while extensive, have not addressed that point -- but it will probably be something unexpected. (And while I don't have the final gate song determined, I do have the last scene of the Walk written already...)-- Bob

That depends....does he have a copy of it and has he tried it? It might be too obvious for for him to even consider it. Or someone is "encouraging" him to forget it everytime he sees it.

Good question. It used to be that his song knowledge and mine were 100% congruent, but now that I'm using a subset of the Internet to simulate (and stimulate ) his mental processes, that's no longer the case. I am not familiar with it, but that doesn't mean Doug isn't. However, Occam's Razor suggests that it is most likely that he hasn't encountered the song yet.-- Bob

That's funny..I sent you a copy at the same time I sent you "Read My Mind". I sent them separately.

You did? Then I'm probably just mentally skipping a track or something. I know that's happened at least once already in the last few months -- someone suggests a song, I download it, it sounds good, I go to copy it into my permanent music directory -- and there's a copy already there. -- Bob

Perhaps Doug has this problem as well? After all he's only human... O.K. ... enhanced human with meta class abilities, but still, essentialy, only human. As far as I remember, to this date has it been shown that he actualy has an eidetic memory. He may have songs that can cause him to simulate an eidetect memory, but he has to remember what they are.

I was thinking and hoping that Fire In The Sky by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band as the last gate song. ^_^
www.sing365.com/music/lyr...3900272C1C
All alone in a sleepless night
Passing time with a runaway moon
talkin' to myself
Wishing I was somewhere else
It's been too long since I held you girl
Twice a thousand miles
But my heart won't beat alone
I need the love I left behind
Hold back the dawn awhile
This will all work out
Don't let this dream die
There's a fire in the sky
It's like the light in your eyes
Thinkin' of you
And I won't give up till your in my arms
Never give up till what's lost is found
Won't give up on your sweet, sweet love again
Now the night is dark with diamonds
And I'm standing inside the rain
Giving up your love
Was the worst mistake I made
There's a sound I hear in the distance
Seems it's calling out my name
Well I'll pay most any price
I just hope I'm not too late
Turn back the clock awhile
Things will all work out
That's what the dream is all about
There's a fire in the sky
It's like the light in your eyes
Oh, it's true
That I won't give up till your in my arms
Never give up till what's lost is found
Won't give up on your sweet, sweet love
Turn back the clock awhile
Things will all work out
That's what the dream is all about
I see a fire in the sky
Just like the light in your eyes
Thinkin' of you
That I won't give up till your in my arms
Never give up till what's lost is found
Won't give up on your sweet, sweet love

The NAME of the song is going to point to fire, but take a look at the lyrics.

Way too obvious, but still a possibility.

'Mid pleasures and palaces
Though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble,
There's no place like home.
A charm from the skies
Seems to hallow us there,
Which seek thro' the world,
Is ne'er met with elsewhere.
Home, home, sweet sweet home,
There's no place like home,
There's no place like home.
I gaze on the moon
As I tread the drear wild,
And feel that my mother
Now thinks of her child;
As she looks on that moon
From our own cottage door,
Thro' the woodbine whose fragrance
Shall cheer me no more.
Home, home, sweet sweet home,
There's no place like home,
There's no place like home.
An exile from home,
Splendor dazzles in vain,
Oh, give me my lowly
Thatched cottage again;
The birds singing gaily,
That came at my call:
Give me them and that
Peace of mind, dearer than all.
Home, home, sweet sweet home,
There's no place like home,
There's no place like home. --Payne & Bishop

Hard to do that on a motorcycle, though...

It's spelt "Frodo Baggins" but it's pronounced "Throat-wobbler Mangrove."
