Well, it does look like the site admins need to RTFM as either they misconfigured their DNS, someone managed some DNS poisoning, or there was some other form of naughtiness. At this point I'm assuming someone fatfingered a configuration rather than something malicious. But I wouldn't be utterly shocked if I woke up at some point to discover ffn was down due to either Bus-kun isekaiing Li* or from some finding an exploit and deciding it would be fun to 'rm -rf /' for giggles.


*I have no idea if there's actually a real team running the sysadmining the place or just Li, and if there are others is it set up in such a way that it could survive if Li just walked away. Because it doesn't take a Bus/Truck-kun, I know of at least one forum that effectively died because the owner of the domain didn't die but just walked away and stopped talking to the mod team who do not have access to renew the domain whenever it lapses not sufficient server access to update the forum software.

As per the Fic Update 57 thread, ff.net sees to be having issues with listings (Not sorting by, or incorrectly listing, the update details) on author pages.

Along with intermittent bouts of: "This story has no chapters", "User does not exist", and "chapter is not available".
Quite annoying.

The problem has been ongoing the entire month of February. There's been no word from admins, and there are rumors that Xing lost his home in the LA fires (and is thus understandably preoccupied).

No one really knows, though. And until something happens (or the whole site crashes) there's likely nothing to be done.

(UPDATE: And less than a day after I write that, the admins finally show up again on Twitter. Supposedly, the problem is being addressed now, and is expected to be resolved in the next 6-12 hours.)
