is there a way to do nested quotes that doesn't cause spewage? i've tried once or twice, but the board always hacks it up...

As far as I can tell, no. The latest version of the board software is a bit more capable than what we had when I started this place up back in September, but it's not all that sophisticated.
Oh, wait, there is one possibility... I know that with the right options set, it's possible to use raw HTML code in messages. Maybe we can figure out how to code a nested comment and use that...
