		Legendary Base Salvage/Enhancement Redux

		05-04-2010, 04:54 AM

		Okay,
Atl mentioned something about redoing The Legendary's Salvage and Enhancement Racks to even them out.
I did a little Tabulation of my own and totalled up the following in the base currently: Salvage Racks - 5 bins - 150 slots (2 of these are costume racks, making 90 available for Invention Salvage)Enhancement Tables - 9 Tables - 900 slotsInspiration Collectors - 2 Collectors - 200 slotsVaults - 2 Vaults (These do count toward storage max.)

In my honest opinion, the amount of Salvage and Enhancement Bins need to be reversed, giving us 500 Enhancement slots, and 270 Salvage slots....at the very least.
What I am willing to do is sell all SOs level 50 and under, and compress the Enchancement Bins as far as possible with only 51+ Enhancements and all IOs. I'm willing to put this money aside as a "slush fund" to go for either base prestige or outfitting of newbie Legendaries, group choice.
Anyone have any objections to this plan?

I don't mind. If you need someone to remove/replace some of the storage bins leme know and I'll hop on Amber. Only The Star ranks (Leader, Legend, Myth, I believe) have base-edit privs so far.---

Okay...liquidated our SOs and have now have a slush fund of 2,249,424. I'm going to donate enough cash to round that up to 2,250,000 million. I'll move that cash to Aiko to be used as the fund administrator.
Taking stock of what remains in Legendary Base is 552 Enhancements. Breakdown will be added shortly.

The thought occurs to me that with the changes to the game economy over the last year or two, almost all of my toons -- and practically all over about level 25 -- are filthy rich. Given that I didn't do anything weird or exploitative (unless you count buying L40-50 Rare Arcane Salvage with Merit and AE points and selling them for what the traffic will bear at WW as exploitative), I would expect the same to be true of just about everyone. So... why don't we all chip in a million or so infl to boost that slush fund into some serious money?-- Bob

And do what with it, Bob?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the idea of having oodles of cash lying about -- if nothing else, I can use it as fodder for a scene in which Lora'Lai, late at night when everyone else is away, opens the Secret Vault and swims in the piles of coins like Scrooge McDuck -- but I think that there should be a purpose in mind.
And on top of that, I have to wonder just who is planning on using it?  If you recall, I took Wire's donated cash and created the newbie fund, with a starting balance of 100 million.  The balance on that account, after all this time?  Still at 86 million, and that's with me handing out 4m at a shot.
I have no objection to the selling of crap to make room for, well, more crap.     But we've already -got- a slush fund that we aren't even using, so why create another?

As I said at the time, Oh PLEASE DO! The imbalance between salvage storage space vs Enhancements was totally driving me nuts!
Not so worried about what to do with the cash from the cleanup and selloff -- but we definatly need the extra salvage storage BADLY

Now, I've emptied 3 Enhancement Tables sorting all this out. The Enchancement Table in the "Control Room", the Table in the small tech workshop (where the Tech Vault and the worktable is) and the northmost rack in the large Tech workshop. My suggestion is to delete these Tables and Either add 2 Salvage Racks to the Control Room or an additional Rack to the small Tech Workshop for use for costume salvage. Shuffle the contents of the Tech And Arcane Labs so that one is Salvage and the other is Enhancements. I'd also delete one of the Vaults (we don't really need 2) to add another Salvage rack. This will give us 6 Enhancement Tables, 6 Invention Salvage Racks, 2 Costume Salvage Racks, and 2 Inspiration Holders.

WHY do we have so many low-level IO's sitting around? Were people just going for crafting badges or something?

I dumped all the IOs I made on Emet into base storage when I was memorizing. So yeah, that's probably where all of the lower level ones came from.---

This is very good work! I was going to do something like this. But you did FAR more and better documentation than I might've accomplished. I'm going to log in with Lora'Lai and see what I can do to juggle the storage racks now.
EDIT: Oh - and I was doing a lot of crafting a few months ago as well. Some I stored and some I sold. But yeah, some of those might be mine.

Again, like everyone's been saying: excellent work, Ran. This is a great service to everyone. I salute you.Looking at the numbers, though - yeah, we have way too many Level 10 IOs banked.
Generally speaking, there's not going to be much call for Level 10-20 IOs. Which isn't to say there's NO call, just less need to keep those on hand. Typically folks would place higher emphasis on the Level 25+ IOs, given that it's the point where IOs start to give SO-equiv boosts.
I suggest, especially since the new Global Mail allows us to send attachments, that whoever wants...should start taking out some of those Level 10-20 IOs...and send 'em on to our own lowbie alts or whatever. Get some use out of 'em.
Because frankly we don't need over a hundred of the things.

I've also been working on getting the crafting badges, so its not just 'one' person who's guilty of IO 'dumping'.
as far as that goes, I'd expect that one of the biggest problems is that no one really knew what we had in the racks... so our lowbies didnt know what there was or wasnt.

Rather than 'throwing them' away, I'd actually argue in favor of using them productively. What with EATS (both H and V) available at 20 now; maybe we should just get those of us who dont have any to start them and use up some of these on them?

I guess the thing is that some of those barely even have a use at such low levels, if any use at all. Like, is there anything to put Intangibility enhancers *in* at level 7? And if you could, would you actually do it? Similar applies to Interrupt, I would think. And... a lot of the others, really. There's not much that really seems worth it at low levels.

Random thought. Should we try to keep an index online somewhere that members can check?
Or, maybe, designate racks by level or something for what goes in them?

Most of the various sg/vg that I've been in recently both on live and on test have a set of at at least 6 racks with labels, that are communal and sorted by decades and the 'sets'.
That said, as I do the semi annual "race-through-ye-gods-I-have-THAT-many-toons" ritual when ever there is an time badge I've got quite a few lowbies... and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So if you don't want to dump some of those lowbie IOs in the bin or the market I could use them.

That said, one of these days, I'll have to get Jelidan onto the memorization bandwagon.... AFTER I have her IOed out and rebuilt... so that's some distance in the future.

At the moment the racks are sorted by descending value going E to W through the two rooms, with the E most rack having the Set IOs, SOs, and the lone Hami-O, and the Westmost rack (in the tech room) having 10 and 15 IOs (except for a few 45 and 50 IOs I've added..I've been crafting, too.
