Songs I'm curious 'bout
02-17-2003, 11:35 AM
Right, first up GiTS:SAC's ED, 'Lithium Flower'
She's so cold and human
It's something humans do
She stays so golden solo
She's so number nine
She's incredible math
Just incredible math
And is she really human?
She's just so something new
A waking lithium flower
Just about to bloom
I smell lithium now
Smelling lithium now
How is she when she doesn't surf?
How is she when she doesn't surf?
How is she when she doesn't surf?
I wonder what she does when she wakes up?
When she wakes up
So matador
So calm
So oil on a fire
She's so good
She's so goddess lithium flower
So sonic wave
Yeah, she's so groove, yeah
She's so groove
Yeah
Wow, where did she learn how to surf?
Wow, where did she learn how to surf?
Wow, where did she learn how to surf?
You know I've never seen the girl wipe out
How does she so perfectly surf?
How does she so perfectly surf?
How does she so perfectly surf?
I wonder what she does when she wakes up?
I wanna go surfing with her
I wanna go surfing with her
I wanna go surfing with her
I wanna go surfing with her
users.skynet.be/fa053010/gits/
For this I'm picturing a simulacra of The Major or similar if Doug hasn't come across/knows her.
-*-*-
Area-7 - 'Individuality'
They always said that you would never be anything.
Everything you tried to do was just a waste of time.
But you believed you could do anything you wanted to.
You made your mind up and you never looked behind.
Don't let them try to tell you how live your life.
Don't let them hold you back, don't ever change your mind.
Individuality - Be proud of what you are
Individuality - Don't let them cut you down
You can be whatever you want to be,
But don't change yourself for society.
Don't lose your Individuality.
The years go by, you find that nothing comes easily.
And the world is full of people tryin' take you down.
Don't ever turn your back on anything you've ever been.
You don't need to prove yourself to anybody else.
There's no room for second best, no second chance, don't fail the test,
Gotta rise above the rest, gotta try to make your mark.
You don't need to be so vain, no need to act so proud,
Follow the trends, don't ever stand out from the crowd.
Do you really care what other people think about you?
Does it really matter what they do or what they say?
You've fought too hard to let them throw it all back in your face.
When their opinion never mattered anyway.
www.angelfire.com/band/area7/Index.html
Something to do with clones/'The Borg' perhaps?
-*-*-
Def Leppard - 'Rocket' :- It's either gonna call up a member of the rocket family (Vindicator anybody?) or is 'We Didn't Start The Fire'-lite.
The Androids - 'Do It With Madonna' :- self-explanatory if it triggers Doug's meta-gift (which I hope it doesn't) but if it doesn't exist on WW-world might be a fun one to pick up on the Walk and present to her when he gets back. In itself the videoclip is good, for it is a cack.

Well....

'Lithium Flower' currently up over at carnage.fanfic.org/mp3s.html with some of the other tracks from the GiTS:SAC OST.
Everything else should be avaliable over which ever peer to peer FTP you care to use.
It's the Australian bands you might have a bit of trouble with i.e. Area-7 & The Androids. I'm just lucky that I can pick 'em off the telly or the radio if I've got me system up. (or Dylan fan style if I ever make it to one of their gigs)

Well, I'm gonna have to wait until my new hard drive comes from Maxtor before I try downloading anything -- with my little dial-up connection, anything of reasonable size takes forever, and I don't want to have my system spontaneously reboot in the middle of anything.

More songs I'm curious 'bout
04-21-2003, 06:21 PM
Right I'm in a bit of a classic Oz/Kiwi Rock/pop mood so let's start off with the New Zealand tourist commission song :- Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over
Quote: There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're travelling with me
Chorus
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
Now I'm towing my car, there's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only the shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
Don't ever let them win
Next up- Crowded House - 'World Where You Live'
Quote: Here's someone now who's got the muscle
His steady hand could move a mountain
Expert in bed but come on now
There must be something missing
That golden one leads a double life
You'll find out
But I don't know where you go
Do you climb into space
To the world where you live
The world where you live
So here we lie against each other
These four walls can never hold us
We're looking for wide open spaces
High above the kitchen
And we're strangers here
On our way to some other place
But I don't know where you go
Do you climb into space
To the world where you live
The world where you live
The world where you live
When friends come round
You might remember and be sad
Behind their eyes is unfamiliar
Do you climb into space
To the world where you live
The world where you live
Another from Crowded House - 'Something So Strong'
Quote: Love can make you weep
it can make you run for cover
Roots that spread so deep
bring life to frozen ground
Chorus
Something so strong
could carry us away
Something so strong
could carry us today
Turning in my sleep
love can leave you cold
The taste of jealousy
is like a lust for gold
Something so strong
could carry us away
Something so strong
could carry us today
I've been feeling so much older
Frame me and hang me on the wall
I've seen you fall into the same trap
This thing is happening to us all
(Bridge)
Something so strong
could carry us away
Something so strong
could carry us today
(Something so strong)
(Something so strong)
(Something so strong)
Something something so strong
Now for something that's almost overplayed during the Austrailan Rules Football season (Ah footy, just as long as Collingwood don't win it'll be right, mate)
Hunters And Collectors - Holy Grail
Quote: Woke up this morning,
from the strangest dream
I was in the biggest army,
The world has ever seen
We were marching as one,
on the road to the holy grail
Started out,
Seeking fortune and glory
It's a short song, but it's a
Hell of a story, when you
Spend your lifetime trying to get
Your hands on the Holy Grail
Bud have you heard of the Great Crusade?
We ran into millions, and nobody got paid
Yeah, we razed four corners of the globe,
For the Holy Grail.
All the locals scattered,
They were hiding in the snow
We were so far from home,
So how were we to know,
There'd be nothing left to plunder
When we stumbled on the Holy Grail?
We were foolish beings
But we were dying like flies
And those big black birds,
they were circling in the sky,
And you know what they say, yeah,
Nobody deserves to die.
Oh I,
I've been searching for an easy way
to escape the cold light of day
I've been high, and I've been low
But I've got nowhere else to go
There's nowhere else to go
I followed orders
God knows where I'd be
But I woke up alone,
all my wounds were clean
I'm still here
I'm still a fool for the Holy Grail
Oh yeah,
I'm a fool for the Holy Grail
This one's becoming Paul McDermot's signature tune
Hunters And Collectors - Throw Your Arms Around Me Quote: I will come for you at nighttime
I will raise you from your sleep
I will kiss you in four places
As I go running along your street
I will squeeze the life out of you
You will make me laugh and make me cry
And we will never forget it
You will make me call your name
And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky
And we may never meet again
So shed your skin and let's get started
And you will throw your arms around me
Yeah, you will throw your arms around me
I dreamed of you at nighttime
And I watched you in your sleep
I met you in high places
I touched your head and touched your feet
So if you disappear out of view
You know I will never say goodbye
And though I try to forget it
You will make me call your name
And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky...
And we may never meet again...
So shed your skin and let's get started
And you will throw your arms around me
Yeah, you will throw your arms around me
Oh...yeah...
Ohhh yeah...
You will throw your arms around me...
Yeah, you will throw your arms around me....
Hunters & Collectors - 'Do You See What I See'
Quote: I spy your humble home
I see the tea towels fly
In a blinding flash
I see the years go by
Memories twisted around
Somebody's finger
Behind me now
Oh but I still remember
Do you see what I see?
Do you see what I see?
Do you see what I see?
Do you see what I see?
We go north to the ocean
We drove so far
But last years light is shining hotter than the sun
Looking for someone
In a suburb that I know
But I wasn't round for long
I had somewhere else to go
Do you see what I see?
Do you see what I see?
Do you see what I see?
Do you see what I see?
I see the safest place around
In that city down below
My hands are empty now
And I waving as I go
You were gone for a little while
It was a fine fine line
Between first and second thoughts
We left them all behind
Now we barely faulter
Now the long drive has begun
North to the ocean
Hotter, hotter than the sun
Do you see what I see?
Do you see what I see?
Do you see what I see?
Do you remember?(repeat)
I said do you remember?...
That is all. For now...

Quote: 'Lithium Flower' currently up over at carnage.fanfic.org/mp3s.html with some of the other tracks from the GiTS:SAC OST.
Unfortunately, I got there too late...

Well, "Lithium Flower" is giving me trouble, but I found the Area-7 song right away and it's downloading right now at a respectable clip. Go figure.

A New Set

A Golden Moldey Funny: The Firm's "Star Trekkin'"
Which I'm not providing the lyrics for as it fairly locatable.
the OP song to Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door (a.k.a the Movie)
Seatbeat "Ask DNA"
Quote: Gummed up, brain dead and can't decide
you can't pray enough, you can't hide
You can be cool or you can cry
Do it wrong
Not it all
Or do it right
No one owes you, no one's to blame
Save for bad genes or DNA
Ask your conscience the why and how
Do it then
Do it when
But, do it now
What's up sweet cakes?
Who's hip anyway?
Earthgirls are easy
What you gonna do lil' buckaroo?
(Hey you, you better ask her nice!)
All you gotta do, happy fool, is ask your mom
No we all can't be Superfly GQPhdFBI
You can pretend or you can try
Move ahead
Lay down dead
Or slip on by
When the truth seems so farway
Buddha loves you and Jesus saves
You need answers for your dismay
Ask yourself
Ask your mom
Ask DNA
What's up sweet cakes?
Who's hip anyway?
Earthgirls are easy
What you gonna do lil' buckaroo?
(Hey you, you better ask her nice!)
All you gotta do, happy fool, is ask your mom
Kamakamakama ask your mama
Super groover Dahli Lama
What's up sweet cakes?
Who's hip anyway?
Earthgirls are easy
What you gonna do lil' buckaroo?
Come on!
What's up sweet cakes?
Who's hip anyway?
Earthgirls are easy
What you gonna do lil' buckaroo?
(Hey you, you better ask her nice!)
All you gotta do, happy fool, is ask your mom
The ED to Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door (a.k.a the Movie)
Seatbelt's "Gotta Knock a Little Harder"
Quote: Happiness is just a word to me
And it might have meant a thing or two
If I'd known the difference
Emptiness, a lonely parody
And my life, another smokin' gun
A sign of my indifference
Always keepin' safe inside
Where no one ever had a chance
To penetrate a break in
Let me tell you some have tried
But I would slam the door so tight
That they could never get in
Kept my cool under lock and key
And I never shed a tear
Another sign of my condidtion
Fear of love or bitter vanity
That kept me on the run
The main events at my confession
I kept a chain upon my door
That would shake the shame of Cain
Into a blind submission
The burning ghost without a name
Was calling all the same
But I wouldn't listen
The longer I'd stall
The further I'd crawl
The further I'd crawl
The harder I'd fall
I was crawlin' into the fire
The more that I saw
The further I'd fall
The further I'd fall
The lower I'd crawl
I kept fallin' into the fire
Into the fire
Into the fire
Suddenly it occurred to me
The reason for the run and hide
Had totaled my existnce
Everything left on the other side
Could never be much worse that this
But could I go the distance
I faced the door and all my shame
Tearin' off each piece of chain
Until they all were broken
But no matter how I tried
The other side was licked so tight
That door it wouldn't open
Gave it all that I got
And started to knock
Shouted for someone
To open the lock
I just gotta get through the door
And the more that I knocked
The hotter I got
The hotter I got
The harder I'd knock
I just gotta break through the door
Gotta knock a little harder
Gotta knock a little harder
Gotta knock a little harder
Break through the door

A Goddess set
07-01-2003, 08:20 AM
As I've recently acquired the Ah! My Goddess: The Movie OST (long time after the DVD of said) and there's only a few songs on that feature lyrics as to be expected of an OST, but the one track of just the VA of Belldandy singing might do something (dea cantat - The Goddess Sings)
So without futher to do, I'll let the Bacon-cive do the typing:
[url=http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/ams/corodidea.htm]Coro di dea - Megami-tachi no Utagoe
Love Lesson 3 only the english translation
Recollection ~ Nostalgia same with this.

Especially the Dea Cantat. As of the current form of the plot, singing goddesses are an important story element...

I'd a feeling that 'Dea Cantat' would be something that you'd be interested in. There's a piano accompanied variant of it that uses the VA voices of Belldandy at three ages: ~6, ~12 & her current apparent age, 'Whisper of Life', the CDDB calls the track 'Inchino Sasayaki'.
Oh an there's a error with one of the links The fixed one

Yet another set
10-03-2003, 07:26 PM
With the latest tendency for certain elements to take old songs and give a contemporary update, be it as a cover or remix. I'll start off with: Elvis - "Rubberneckin'" (any version), guaranteed observers for song duration?
The OP to Witch Hunter Robin; Bana- "Shell"
Persian Rugs - "Be A Woman" ; not a freakin clue. The vidclip suggests that it might be a Buck's party enhancer.
Full Fathom Five - "Built You A Gun"
The OP to Full Metal Panic; "Tomorrow"
Watashi no Tamagoyaki
Iron Maiden - "Wildest Dreams", a possible gate song with it's repeated "I'm on my way".
Morning Musume - "Chokotto Love". This band apparently has a song about a telephone ringing or sommat like dat. Ether way this ones rather hyper, & a Ryoko's supposed to like it.

Before I forget, I finally picked up the OMG soundtrack CD a few weeks back -- very nice stuff on that, but I dunno, I find it hard to listen to all the way through in one sitting. I keep wanting to turn it off and come back to it later. Weird.
Most of the songs you're suggesting, I don't know. I'm going to have to go check them out. I haven't seen "Witchhunter Robin" yet, and to be honest, it's not on our "buy" list (which is currently full of other anime). However, I do know "Watashi no Tamagoyaki", very well indeed. (Hey, Nathan, remember that weird song from the end of "Dragon Half"? ) I'm afraid to even consider that one...

"My Omolete"?
The song of how a young girl half-dragon, will win the love of the man of her dreams by cooking for him? [grin]
Just your basic boy-dragon-slayer meets girl-half-dragon love song, really! [grin]
Then, there is what it does to Bethoven (sp?) ! [grin]
I watched it again the other day...
May it is a song that makes the relationship between two people... more interesting?

I always thought it was a bit more of a "girl meets food" song.

"He looks good enough to eat???"
No, I am pretty sure it is supposed to be romantic, in a strange sort of way...
Part of the point is just how much of the food she is willing to share with him, I think. Mink can be pretty unlucky, and after all, she was willing to become a human to have a better chance with him. The fact that her big romantic competitor (and royal head of the dragon slayer's fanclub) is a half-slime has got to say something...
> (What is it with Kotono Mitsuishi's characters and food, btw? )
I am so bad with even English names, that I wouldn't know which other characters he has done...
Food is a pretty elemental need, and one most living creatures can reasonably empathise with! [grin]

She, actually. In addition to Mink (and among others), she's Usagi "Sailor Moon" Tsukino, Excel Excel, and Misato Katsuragi.

It's not for everyone, it's neo-gothic and the system of magic used seems bassakward to me as it appears to lump Telekinetics, pyrokinetics, electokinetics in with the magic ('craft') users. Some of Witchhunter Robin's background seems to have it's basis in Marvel's mutant theory.
