Steps that never were(?)
08-13-2009, 02:02 AM
It's too easy to come up with titles for Steps that haven't happened, or at least haven't happened on-screen. Maybe, somewhere, Skysaber is reading some of these stories instead of the ones we got. Or maybe these might spark some ideas amongst the Fanfic^2 writers. Anyway, I thought it appropriate to collect them here as I notice (or come up with) them...
Over in http://drunkardswalkforums.yuku.com/topic/5979]Crossovers That Should Not Be: The Academy, Bob wrote:
Bob Schroeck Wrote:For a long time I was tempted to do a Narnia Step in the Walk, just so I could use the title The Loon, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Then I added two:
robkelk Wrote:I suppose that went the way of the cyberspace-anime Step, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_Experiments_Lain]Serial Experiments Loon.
Or the WWII Step, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120863/]The Thin Red Loon.
Any more?

An intriuging idea, but "Loon" doesn't sound that much like "Catcher". To make the trope work, you need something with a pun... such as the cute-vampire-girlfriend anime story, Loon Phase

Okay then, how about Loonstruck? Though that would probably just be a montage of Doug's greatest one-hit-KOs of all time.

Bob suggested Loonstruck (with Cher, as he said) already.
Of course, "Loon-based" titles aren't the only possibilities, but let's consider World War II spectacular The Looniest Day. Or Doug
meets Philip Marlowe and says The Loon Goodbye. Or his adventures traipsing around Tokugawa Japan with a samurai toddler: Loon Wolf and Cub.

I already mentioned Loon of the Desert, where Doug would be helping Omar Mukhtar repel the Italians in Libya. There would also be Loon of
Arabia, although Doug's presence might have made the Turks think twice about fighting the Bedouin tribes.
