Another RightStuf sale
Another RightStuf sale
#1
Since consensus appears to be that folks want to keep hearing about them, I'll keep posting them. (I won't bother with the 5%-off sales, though...)
They've just started a Media Blasters sale: 40% off DVDs and 33% off books, including pre-orders and their live-action and adults-only brands. The coupon code and fine print can be found at this page.
Media Blasters titles that I recommend include Figure 17 (very highly recommended if you like the old "good alien versus evil alien with an Earther caught in the middle" SF), Shinesman (highly recommended for the camp value), Magic Users Club, eX-Driver OAVs, Magic Knight Rayearth, Master of Mosquiton, and Midori Days. I'm told that Rurouni Kenshin is pretty good, too...

;.; Why must this be when I'm low on money right before an anime convention?
And I really want copies of Rayearth too... although I'm not entirely clear on what the differences between the several Rayearth sets they have are. Well, maybe I can at least finally get a copy of Escalayer. (Got to have the show about sex-powered combat cyborg magical girls! '.' )
My personal recommendation would be "Seven of Seven" (which is, peculiarly, in the list as "NaNa 7 of 7"). While I think the manga did some things better (by not keeping the Nanas a secret), it's still a lot of fun. (Though I haven't watched the entire series yet... I'm not quite certain where I put it now. *blush*)

Well, there's pretty much no difference between the Rayearth sets. They're even the same identical disks in the box, just the packaging is different. I own all three US DVD releases, since it's one of my favorite series of all time, and can verify that the disks in the most recent set are the exact same as the ones from the first.
You'd probably want the "World of Rayearth" set, since it includes both seasons in a pretty small box for a good price. The two "Economy Boxes" are just the two seasons separately, and the individual disks are still available, but the original box sets are out of print (a pity, since the Season 2 box is one of the nicest I've seen).------------

Its pretty nice yea, but every time I see the economy boxes, I cringe, remembering I paid $350ish for the two sets...[Image: faveosig.jpg]

RightStuf always wants you to buy more stuff. As long as it's Right Stuf(f), of course.
Seriously, there's almost always a sale going on at that website, although most of them are nickel-and-dime things.

Another Geneon sale - not the monster "25 for $100" deal they've run before, "merely" a 35%-off deal.
Details here

(Oh, and check out their bargain bin - I just started my Christmas shopping by picking up an entire series for about $20. No, I won't say which series - I might be giving it to somebody who reads this board...)

Amazon.com is having an up to 50% off assorted anime sale. The smallest discount I saw in very quick sampling was 35% off Read or Die OAV or FFVII: Advent Children, and there's quite a few 50% off deals.
As usual with folks who aren't in the anime business, some non-anime animation got mixed in with the anime.
