I was not a major poster on the the last boards. not sure how much on here. but Hello everyone. And it all lead to bob posting an update on the mailing list the other day.

Looking for examples of recursive fanfiction
Posted by: LilFluff - 06-07-2018, 04:16 PM - Forum: Other People's Fanfiction - Replies (9)

So over on the mastodon* server I hang out on a question was bumped over to me. The original question was, "has anyone ever made a fanfiction of a fanfiction. To which a reference was made to I believe the delightfully tangled interlocking web of Terraverse stories over on Twisting the Hellmouth. Which had the question raised to, "Then... has someone ever made a fanfiction of a fanfiction of a fanfiction? [Image: 98b6aedb3b5b0eaa.png]"

Now the Terraverse is the most immediate example I can think to point to as there's the original crossover Diane wrote, and it's sequel, and the stories those inspired, which have in turn inspired others who are writing in the multiverse Diane started. But does anyone have any other examples of this kind of thing happening?

*If you're wondering I hang out on Tootplanet.Space which is no longer an Under 100 Users server but still has that Small Server comfy feeling even if I don't know everyone on it from other sites.

‘Not a swimming place for Nazis’
Posted by: DHBirr - 06-07-2018, 01:01 PM - Forum: Politics and Other Fun - Replies (1)

Far-right German lawmaker Alexander Gauland, who has dismissed the Third Reich as an insignificant part of Germany's history (even while he promotes generally similar "values"), stripped down to take a dip in a lake.  Someone swiped his clothing, forcing him to walk home in swim trunks.

Among comments on the article was the following:

Quote:zeemerite wrote: But it was very wrong of the thief to do that. Very wrong.
Hehehehehehe.   Hehehehe.
Hehe.
I will, of course, put a summary of this incident on ATT under "Gone Swimming, Clothes Stolen."  Ach, die Schadenfreude!

Edit: Well, I'll put it on as soon as ATT allows me to log on again, which doesn't seem to be any time soon. It's giving me an error message Bob reported seeing back in late May: "There seems to be a problem with your login session; this action has been canceled as a precaution against session hijacking. Go back to the previous page, reload that page and then try again."

Trump: Canada Burned White House in 1812
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 06-07-2018, 12:37 PM - Forum: Politics and Other Fun - Replies (2)

And that's why tariffs.

Story here.

(For those who don't want to click the link: Canada didn't exist as a separate nation in 1812, the British burned the White House, and Trump apparently is no better informed on American History than he is on anything else.)

  Creative Destruction Lab

Two cool things:

1: The University of Toronto has a "Creative Destruction Lab".

2: The U of T's Creative Destruction Lab is offering help to entrepreneurs interested in space. Cmdr.Hadfield is involved.

  Happy Birthday, Hidden User!

I could use my super-secret admin powers and troll through the user data to see who you are, but I really don't need to do that just to wish you happy birthday.

So I didn't, and which I do.

For those who (like Ferrari) didn't notice, here's a Google Maps route map from where the race is being held to the city in the photo.

Trump claims he's allowed to pardon himself
Posted by: robkelk - 06-04-2018, 02:06 PM - Forum: Politics and Other Fun - Replies (6)

AP: Trump says he has 'absolute right' to pardon himself after Giuliani plays down possibility

At least Giuliani had the sense to say that Trump wouldn't do that... but Trump's comments were in response to Giuliani's.

So, tell me, Mr. Trump: If you've done nothing wrong, why do you see the need to pardon yourself?
