RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - MilkmanConspiracy - 09-08-2025

Not sure if there’s history I’m missing, or if there’s enough edits for it, but I’ve been satisfied with GabrielSemicolon's edits so far - might be good to automod them if that holds.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - Bob Schroeck - 09-09-2025

I'll need to look for that history myself, as I don't remember seeing his name before yesterday. So no vote from me yet.

EDIT: Okay, I've just looked at his history. He's only got six edits over the past 16 months to his name -- that got past Moderation at least. I'd rather hold off until he has a bit more under his belt.

Agreed. We don't need another "good at mechanical edits but terrible at keeping opinions out of non-opinion pages" troper. (Not saying that this troper is like that, just saying we need more data.)

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - Bob Schroeck - 09-09-2025

I've just imposed an immediate permanent block on "JJ killiards212joe" for trying to create a bogus work page. I did some investigating on "Krypto the runt", and everywhere I found a reference to it where I could check its history, I saw the identical block of text has had been added between July and August of this year. Further, JJ is quite insistent that it ran between 1997 and 2002, but that it included references to Roblox (first released 2006) and Minecraft (released 2011).

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - Bob Schroeck - 09-09-2025

Before I forget, Geth, could you please pass the word to TVT about this guy and the "Krypto the runt" hoax, in case he's either passed under their radar or hasn't hit them yet?

EDIT: Ah, never mind. He already hit them and got bounced for his trouble.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - robkelk - 09-09-2025

He's hit more than a few Fandom wikis, too. Anybody got any contacts there?

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - Bob Schroeck - 09-09-2025

I've passed on an optimized version of the link you posted on the wiki to the central Fandom support Zendesk with a description of what we've seen.

I had a little chat with Google's AI interface, and it not only agreed with me that "Krypto the runt" is a bogus show, but it also pointed out that combined with the YouTube channel, it had all the hallmarks of an AI slop campaign designed to snag people with keywords, presumably to use them to farm advertising dollars somehow. (Which might explain why JJ's only response to us was just to repeat the block of text he/it had posted twice before -- he wasn't a real person but a bot of some sort.) Presumably now Google will now warn people about it instead of helping it attract eyes.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - MilkmanConspiracy - 09-10-2025

I was reviewing the edits for the pacific war pending entry 10 hours ago, and it all appears original, except for a short sentence starting with "The spark in the west pacific ignites", which seems to come from a website promoting the book. Wanted to wait till morning in the Americas before doing anything. Would the usual spiel about copyright be appropriate here?

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - Bob Schroeck - 09-10-2025

After I brought it to their attention, IMDb has removed their "Krypto the runt" page. Meanwhile, I got an email back from Fandom and they're going to be chasing down their bogus pages.

EDIT: I've also alerted YouTube to this channel, which hosts AI slop that claims to be episodes of "Krypto the Runt", as well what looks to be a whole lot of other crap.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - robkelk - 09-12-2025

Now that that one's handled... Has anybody heard of the "INTFARM Bootlegs" that have a page waiting in Moderation? I can't find anything about them in a DuckDuckGo search, although the search results do list the DeviantArt site for the originals.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - robkelk - 09-12-2025

Oh, and I've told InsectRaid that I personally am not going to look at his page because I don't want to risk copying anything for my own story in progress. (Whether that's a concern doesn't really matter; it's the appearance of it being a possibility that's the issue.)

I seem to recall that somebody asked him to revise that page and re-submit it. Could whoever that was review the re-submitted page, please? It's been waiting in moderation for close to a month now.

I’ll review it.

Thanks.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - MilkmanConspiracy - 09-12-2025

Done, though I can’t say I find the work agreeable at all. Briefly skimmed and controlled F to verify anything that looked suspect, though the most egregious error of fact (Stating an American web original script was rated PG-13) was likely done out of ignorance that that’s an actual rating that a specific board gives rather than malice.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - MilkmanConspiracy - 09-18-2025

Was wondering what you all make of the response to my question about a pending edit here.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - robkelk - 09-21-2025

Looks like Miraheze is down - I'm getting 503 errors on ATT, KanriKyara, and the freebie wiki. (Although https://status.miraheze.wiki/ is 404, so I can't confirm that.)

EDIT: And as soon as I post that, the wikis came back. except for status.miraheze.wiki

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - robkelk - 09-22-2025

Sigh...

Quote:Miraheze will be conducting server maintenance on Monday, September 22nd, 2025 at 15:00 UTC. Maintenance will last around an hour or less. During that time, some images may fail to load. Editing will remain unaffected.

The wikis, including Meta, went away completely at 16:05 UTC. status.miraheze.wiki is still offline.

EDIT: Back at 16:30... except for status.miraheze.wiki , which somebody really should look at.

Quote:If you're seeing this Grafana has failed to load its application files

Grafana has failed to load its application files for me at least half a dozen times today. It's easily dealt with by reloading the page, but I'm finding it incredibly irritating.

I haven't, and I've similarly done a search to find out anything about them with zero real results. The DeviantArt link goes to a single strip of a webcomic, and there is nothing else on the page that seems to point at anything even vaguely like what the proposed page describes. I also get a strong sense of trollery from it. On top of that, user Nevyslusannyj (Russian for "unheard") dropped it off more than a month ago, has never contributed anything else to the site, and hasn't even posted anything to ask why we're taking so long to approve it. I'm going to reject this silently, and wait to see if he ever comes back.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - Bob Schroeck - 09-24-2025

Meanwhile, can someone familiar with the Tales of... series of video games please check out this proposed edit? The mass changing of nomenclature for the various subseries as well as the deletion of an entire section has me confused/concerned, but I don't know enough about the games to know if it's changing the article to match current usage or not.

The changes reflect current day official nomenclature for the Tales series since 2022.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - Bob Schroeck - 09-24-2025

Thanks, Geth. I'll okay the edit, then.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - robkelk - 09-26-2025

New category Gangster Film could use some populating.

I needed the category for a new navbox. Amazingly enough for a navbox based on a Real Life list of exceptional works of fiction, it has hardly any redlinks...

Unless there are any objections, I’m going to approve this in a day or two on the word of the user that the article is their own original work.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXII - Bob Schroeck - 09-29-2025

I've no objection. We can't check everything against everything else, and there comes a point where our due diligence comes down to taking a contributor at his word until we learn otherwise.
