Reagan fired the ATC's because they tried to strike (aka use collective bargaining) would you rather Trump went there and told them they were all fired and that they could re-apply but that there would be no collective bargaining, or they keep their jobs and have to work out their own contracts from here on out?

Yes, I would. Better that than change their contracts without their informed consent. However, if they're going to be let go, it had better be for cause. (Reagan had cause.)

Actually, I'm surprised that Trump pulled this stunt in the first place. If he'll change one contract, he'll change another - so who would risk entering into a contract with him knowing this once he's no longer President?

If the numpty showed any ability to predict, or perhaps just the wit to care about, the consequences of his actions, that might be a factor. He's repeatedly demonstrated that he's exclusively about saying what sounds good (to and about himself at least) at the moment without any concern for the reactions it will cause, or even what he said in the last tweet/sound bite/etc..
