I know y'all wanted this closed, but the conversation made me think of Roger Zelazny's Wizard World books and the game Arcanum, with magic and technology as antithetical forces.

New topic for speculation: Christmas hols.
1) Does Harry stay at Hogwarts?(I'd say yes, since a Lab Door is there and it's much easier to sneak into it than the boot cupboard at Privet Drive after being given a room of is own) 2) What does he give/get for prezzies?(the only thing that jumps to mind is booze and Ryoko, but it's not the kind of thing an 11 year old gives or gets and a fanon stereotype besides) 3) What does he see in the Mirror of Erised?(Probably the same as canon but with the Masaki-ke residents added, getting along with each other and everyone else who was already in the scene. If he's done some actual research on his parents and discovered his mother's academic bent, there could well be two redheads scheming over a holocomputer in part of it.) And something that came up while thinking about this, how quickly does the name Nicholas Flamel come up in relation to alchemy? If he's got some kind of indexing database that's been recording any data and scanning any text he comes in contact with, then prettty much the moment the words come out of Hagrid's mouth it's likely to cross-reference any previous appearances, sidestepping the whole stymied-until-winter-break thing even if his innate memory hasn't improved a bit. - CD -- "Anko, what you do in your free time is your own choice. So basically, as soon as Harry hears the name, he'll be looking for material from an alchemist from three hundred years earlier, and the points that are actually of the plot (Philosopher's Stone, Elixer of Life) immediately. If the train ride comes off similarly, he might even wonder aloud if Dumbledore got to see the Philosopher's Stone when working with him after reading the namedrop on Dumbles' chocolate frog card.

A few thoughts...
- Harry was so terribly attached to his friends at Hogwarts because they were the only friends he'd had. In this world, that would attach to the Tenchi Muyo gang. He'll still have friends at Hogwarts, but he probably won't cleave to them quite as hard. He'll *also* likely be used to the idea that the Tenchi gang regularly deals with major supernatural threats of various sorts, which will mean that he's going to be hitting home for whatever fire support is available when disturbing things go down. - So, he goes into the lab. Check. He comes back out in a house full of people who treat him well, and have a habit of taking in strays. Check. Why would he ever go back to the Dursleys? Why would the Tenchi cast let him? I mean, you might chalk it up to failure to communicate for maybe a trip or two, but pretty quickly, he's going to come to the point where he doesn't want to go back, and there's absolutely nothing that will force him to. (...except possibly for Dumbledore, and wouldn't it be interesting to see how *that* interaction turns out?)
Hmmm... That is a tricky one, but if a Mihoshi Coincidence led to the connection being made just as, or better, before, Dumbles pops by for the yearly touch-up on the wards, perhaps they'd extend through the connection to cover the other end as well? Espescially if it's now been two or three visits and Harry already feels more at home there than he did on the Surrey end of the magic closet. Dumbledore then stumbles and pants and mouths a few platitudes to himself about how even if it's ten long and harsh years for young Harry, it really is all for the greater good before activating his return portkey, lemon drops dancing in his head beckoningly.

Hm. This could resurrect the Washuu-rebuilds-Harry idea -- if she uses some of her own DNA in the mix she becomes blood relation, and the wards would extend to everywhere she was.
Or maybe she just scans Harry's house, picks up the wards, figures out at least the "reports to Dumbledore" part, and reproduces them around the house in Okayama. Or she taps into the goddess part of herself and it becomes "just because". As for why Harry goes back...because he doesn't have a choice, at first, because of school, and social workers, and stuff like that -- but after the first few times, maybe he asks Aunt-Professor-Washuu-Chan if there isn't a better way... -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. 
Washuu will probably teriffy Dumbledore for one reason; she's smarter than him. Dumbledore is a genius, and he can probably count his intellectual and magical equals on one hand. It's very unlikely he's met anyone much smarter than him in his entire life. And Washuu will run rings around him easily. He probably won't do anything stupid, but he'll definitely be rattled. The other thing is that secrecy is Dumbledore's most serious flaw. He hordes information, keeps his confidants and associates close to him, and never gives out important or dangerous information if he absolutely doesn't have to. Honestly, he's a lot like Urahara from Bleach. While his compulsive secrecy helps him at times-Dumbledore's espionage tactics run circles around Voldemort's- but it hurts him just as often, and it'll hurt him with his interactions with Tenchi and Co. Long story short, he'll likely make a bad first impression. Even after Dumbledore is convinced that Washuu and the others will be good for Harry, he'll probably try and keep their visibility at Hogwarts to a minimum- not out of desire to separate Harry and his quasi-adoptive family, but simply because he doesn't want people finding out about Harry's relatives. Given the wizarding world's attitude to non-humans and muggles, he may actually have a half-decent political reason for his secrecy.
Dumbledore's other serious problem during the books is that outside Hogwarts, he really lacks any sort of official authority. If I remember correctly, he actively avoided taking positions of official authority because he was scared that he'd succumb to the temptations of power. Unfortunately, unofficial power requires people to listen to you- once's Fudge's paranoia sets in and the Daily Prophet begins the character assassination campaign, Dumbledore's political power drops like a stone. Combine this with Dumbledore's tendency to keep his inner circle small, and he's having a very hard time against Voldemort's followers. Due to the wizarding world's attitude towards nonhumans and muggles, He'll probably be an in even worse position than canon, politically. However, as his political power lessens, he's probably going to be increasingly willing to involve Tenchi, Washuu, and the others simply because of the capabilities and firepower they bring to the field. Overall, Dumbledore's relationship with Harry and his adoptive family will never be too good, but it'll probably get better as the Voldemort situation worsens and at it becomes clearer that Dumbledore is more than a secret-hoarding control freak.
All good points, but I feel strongly that Dumbledore should not be in the know about the Tenchi csat until late first year, if not delayed until the canon denuement. When it's already far too late to head off, and he has no choice but to work with it, in other words.
