I've been reading a lot of fate/stay night crossovers and one just occurred to me that I haven't seen, but seems like it should be: Utena.
You have an ongoing elimination tournament involving materialized swords with an end prize that is implied to be the power to change the world revolving around two characters who seem to be primordial archetypes for a multitude of humanity's myths.
Why hasn't this been written yet?
Edit: And a main character driven by the goal of being the noble prince who saves people.

Good question. Theoretically links to information about downloads and torrents aren't supposed to be illegal, but that hasn't mattered terribly much to the copyright stormtroopers in the past couple years. Technically, Utena is still licensed in North America IIRC, so these are pirate copies; I'm afraid I'm going to have to remove the links just to be safe. Sorry, BA.

I looked it up, and Rightstuf does have the license for Utena now,and they are planning on releasing dvds with the remastered video in the US sometime this year. Here's the press release.
