New Fic Recommendation Thread 6:

Quote: Didn't Skysaber do that in one of his fics? Yes, toward the end of the first half of the extant part of "Otaku Three: EVA Revolution", which you can find at http://www.cwes.net/~yar/fanfic/ornstead.html . -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak.
Children of the Cobb: Firefly, Jayne Cobb has whored three laps around the
'verse. His nine illegitimate children showing up on Serenity don't really surprise anyone aside from him. A Stitch in Time: SG-1, Daniel gets shrunk and Jack gets him a "dog," crossoverness ensues. Recall Alice When She Was Just Small: Harry Potter, Chronicles Dudley's change during the books. Or something.

What we do for family - a Stargate/Buffy crossover. TTH Summary: Instead of putting Dawn with Buffy they put her with Buffy's real father... a Colonel Jack O'Neill. Buffy and the Scoobies move Dawn to protect her from Glory, but SG1 might just have something to say about that... RMH *edited because it made hash of my post *grumble*
A Naruto that I am enjoying - may or may not have been rec'd here before although I don't remember seeing it...
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3691802/1/Human_Contact ...It's not spectacular, but a nice easy reprise of the story easy to read. (although the grammar makes you blink occasionally) The AU point is interesting - although derivative from another story called 'empathy' (author acknowledges it) and it's nice to see all three of Team 7 being treated more or less equally by a motivated Copy-Nin. This is making the chars drift believably OCC but still retaining their essential cores. The story has no char bashing that I've found so far and while everyone is 'powering up' they are still human and more than capable of screwing up... ...and this Naruto's habit of driving Copy-Nin/guardian/sensi nuts by loudly and deliberately imitating GAI every time he's pissed off at at him is worth reading the story all by itself.... It looks like it's going to be Naruto/Sakura but it's still only at the friendship stage yet.
Après Mort le Deluge: Discworld/Harry
Potter, Sirius's misadventures after falling through the Veil and out Death's robes. Just Punching Those Dinosaurs: Marvel, Why you shouldn't mess with the space time continuniuminum. Um. Almost a Squib: Harry Potter, Can Harry survive the Wizarding World with barely any magic? Yes. Yes he can. Seven books in seven chapters. An exerpt: "With this, Dumbledore can move the world," said Harry, lifting the sock higher so that it caught the moonlight. Umbridge watched with naked hunger in her eyes, as the sock suddenly descended and collected her in the side of the head. She collapsed unceremoniously, unconscious before she hit the ground. Harry followed up with another whack, just to make sure. "You do know the saying is actually 'Give me a lever and I'll move the world,' don't you?" asked Hermione. "Didn't have a lever," said Harry, emptying his sock out. "No lever, no crossbow, no Dungbombs, nothing, except a make-shift sock-cosh. Did the trick though."
Im going to second "Almost a squib"
For fans of BGC (Classic, definitely, although anyone who knows the BGC characters would probably enjoy it), I recommend "The Chair" by Martin Pay, a
BGC shortfic which appeared on RAAC Saturday evening. For those who still get the rec.arts.anime.creative feed, you should find it there. It's also in the BGC directory of the RAAC archive, which is at ftp.gweep.ca/pub/anime/anime-fan-works/. The direct link to the story is ftp.gweep.ca/pub/anime/anime-fan-works/BGC/bgc.the-chair.gz Jeanne Hedge www.jhedge.com "Believe me, if I have to go the rest of my life without companionship, knowing myself won't be a problem." -- Gabrielle of Potadeia
After The Fairy Tale Ends: Bleach, To be a Vizard is to be a criminal in the eyes
of the 46. With Aizen's fall Ichigo is cast out, allowed to escape for his service to the Seireitei. What happens when he sneaks back in? So You've Decided to Be Evil: Harry Potter, Harry discovers there are things far, far more annoying than Death. A snippet: "And who are you?" asked Harry. "His redundantly evil twin?" "This is Graham Pritchard, my personal assistant," interjected Draco over any response Graham might have made. "He'll be taking notes about this encounter, won't you, Pritchard?" "Yessir!" cried Graham, pulling a tattered scroll, a quill and some ink out of his robes. Harry sighed and pointed to the secretarial equipment, "This is why wizards need pens. Though I suppose there's something about magic that makes ball bearings and gravity not work." Harry shrugged in a mock helpless sort of way. Draco rolled his eyes. "What are you talking about, Potter-" Blaise coughed. "-Black?" Quote: Im going to second "Almost a squib"Me, too. Nicely done. Most of the other stories by the same author are also worth checking out. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. Quote: So You've Decided to Be Evil: Harry Potter, Harry discovers there are things far, far more annoying than Death.Okay.... I just looked at the first chapter of this, and I'm already snickering. This has potential. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. Quote: So You've Decided to Be Evil: Harry Potter, Harry discovers there are things far, far more annoying than Death. My Gawd. The Crack, sir, she doth flow. Note to self: Do not read while at work if you have difficulty supressing sniggers. -- Sucrose Octanitrate. Proof positive that with sufficient motivation, you can make anything explode.

The Truth Decays by Marz1. An interesting and well written first chapter. ---------------------------------------------------- "Anyone can be a winner if their definition of victory is flexible enough." - The DM of the Rings XXXV
A Mind Bending Inconvenience
Post-series Naruto fic, involving a mistake with the Yamanaka Bloodline. Only three chapters so far, but the comedy of errors in the second chapter is amusing. ''We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.'' -- James Nicoll Quote: Foxboy wrote: Owwwww. The pain..... -- Sucrose Octanitrate. Proof positive that with sufficient motivation, you can make anything explode.
Two authors this time, Checkerboards and Nathan Perry who write mostly Batman/Bat Family fiction.
They are awesome +1. Each.

Highlander/SGI Methos, Clone O'Neil Teacher Student
I'll second "Square peg in a Round hole" as a nice read and complete save for a forthcoming epilogue

Here's a fun Potter fic, set the year before Harry starts.

I stumbled across this author on the weekend.
For those of us who like well written, in character, SGA Genfics http://www.fanfiction.net/u/29228/Sholio Plumbers Helper is esp. good... Given that everything on Atlantis has 'issues', how come you never see them have toilet-related problems? For that matter, does Atlantis have toilets? This is a SERIOUS problem! Would almost be a crackfic if not for the fact it's done so well that I think it would make a perfect episode. But that's my opinion. Form your own
This isn't so much a Fanfic, as actual Fiction, but I found it from linkdiving somewhere on these forums.
Peter Watts Rifter Trilogy: Starfish, Maelstrom, Behemoth Blindsight All four books are available as free pdfs (or html). They have been sucking up what free time I haven't been devoting to CoH. (so far I can vouch for the first 3, haven't gotten to Blindsight yet) -Terry ----- "so listen up boy, or pornography starring your mother will be the second worst thing to happen to you today" TF2: Spy |
