Not just artifacts - they found one of the ships!
I know some folks are going "meh" to this news... but, damnit, this is important.
EDIT: Oh, and the story is so thoroughly entwined with the Canadian identity.

I know some folks are going "meh" to this news... but, damnit, this is important.
- It strengthens the Canadian claim (or, at least, a Commonwealth claim) to the Northwest Passage, which makes any possible Russian claim less valid.
- Also, "the wreck of the HMS Erebus" and "the wreck of the HMS Terror" are two National Historic Sites that we didn't actually know the sites of; this discovery cuts that list in half. Which half, we don't know - yet.
