And the concert is now in the history books.
This was definitely a big deal. Three sets, the usual two encores... and a third encore, which The Hip never do. Prime Minister Trudeau was in the audience, not in a booth but actually on the floor with everyone else. CBC broadcast the concert live without commercials, preempting Olympic Games coverage to do so. (Although I noticed that the radio feed was live but the TV feed was on a three-second delay - they mush have known Tired as Fuck was on the playlist and had somebody ready to mute that one repeated word. Good thing I listened to the radio feed.)
One thing that should be mentioned: we've all assumed that this was their farewell tour, but the band never actually said that. So there's hope for more... assuming Gord Downie's health holds up.
