I don't know about other places, but here in Texas?  That's the law.  You either slow your punk-ass the fuck down, or you give that officer of the law (or other emergency responder, or construction worker, or tow truck driver - yes, even the tow truck driver) an extra lane to work in.

Here in San Antonio, the city police and sheriff's deputies move in packs.  Instead of two partners in a single vehicle, it's two partners in two vehicles.  Where you see one?  Another is near, just out of sight.

Tread lightly when you're in Texas.  Local law enforcement here is all too happy to jump in your shit for driving like you're in Miami or Burbank.
