Of course, even here in the wild, savage US and A, I long ago decided I wouldn't, if at all possible, notify the authorities if I harmed someone who broke into my place. Jail time? Hell, the s.o.b. can sue you for defending yourself! Instead, I'd finish him off, stuff him into a large Hefty bag, and dump his dead ass out in the countryside somewhere.
