Nothing comes to mind at the moment except the line from Wargames: "Strange game. The only winning move is not to play."

I need a second opinion from another mod, please.
Has sufficient work been done on Trope Workshop:Barefoot Sage to avoid summary deletion? Many examples have been added, but the trope description hasn't been touched since the "delete" notice was put on the page.

Does this pending edit seem like an ad to anyone else?
(Don't chastise the submitter for removing the {{reflist}} header -- it wasn't in the boilerplate until I added it just now.)

If it is, it's certainly not one of the spambots that just dump plain text -- or at best generically marked up text -- into an edit window. If I had to decide, I'd very cautiously come down on the side of "ad", if only because I went to the site and saw that it was a pay service. And because the contributor has never edited on the site before. If this were a new page from someone with even a few weeks' history I'd tentatively approve it. As things actually are... maybe we should interrogate Jmaken a bit.

Comes off like an inept newbie whose writing does look like an ad, but they did do mostly correct markup and style. Either way, I concur a bit of investigation is prudent.

It reads like an ad to me: - No forward discussing the concept, even a single sentence. Just goes straight to a favored product.
- Manga Translator has a hyperlink. "Google Translator" doesn’t.
- Google Translate is named as "Google Translator" instead of its proper name.
- Manga Translator is presented as an advanced product, while "Google Translator" is not given the same level of puffery regarding its tech. I do think calling it less special purpose is fair, but I also think calling it a last resort for translation is a stretch. (Having fumbled around with paper dictionaries before)
- The article is supposedly about fan translations, and no mention is made of having a someone who is multilingual just translate it manually. That’s not an option for everyone, but if you have some fans fluent in multiple languages, it’s easily one of the better quality options.
- In general, the article is focused on manga translation, which is only one part of the fan translation scene. That would be fine if that was just what they were familiar with, except that just so happens to be what Manga Translator focuses on.
I’m willing to believe this is some overly enthusiastic techie who found a product they just like, but I also think it’s too close to ad copy to allow.

It's been 181 days since my suspension. It was six months or a year? I re-read your posts and you guys weren't exactly clear about it.

Your ban was permanent because of your vitriolic edits and because you are a ban evader. You were allowed here on my personal board to argue your case, but I see no indication that you convinced anyone that you can be trusted to do anything more than simple mechanical edits.
In other words, it ain't a-goin' anywhere, and neither are you.

It was Geth who said it would be "a bare minimum of six months to a year" before he would even reconsider your permanent ban.
Considering that Bob has made his opinion quite clear in the post immediately before this one and that I pointed out in this forum post that's less than a month old (as of this posting) that you are still presenting misinformation and opinion as if they were fact, well... it's up to Geth whether they want to propose a vote on the matter, but my advice is "don't hold your breath".

I intend to go with the others on this. Thus far, they stand against this topic, and I'm not inclined to fight them on that.

That counted as "presenting as fact"? Do I need to put a parenthesis saying "opinion" behind every post on a forum, a place designated to allow opinions?
Well, I also said Hulk Hogan and Ozzy Osbourne were very influential on their respective fields
Well, that is controversial. Alot of people would say Hogan is not influential at all and just a bad wrestler elevated to the heavens because Vince McMahon like tall guys with huge muscles. I guess that was also "presenting opinion as fact".
I'm tired. I will not appeal anymore, not while Robkelk and no and Bob are here. If every opinion of mine will be distorted like that, then I will be a tennis ball crashing against a solid wall of bricks. I should read the room when I saw Robkelk's signature is some jingoistic, nationalistic crap for his joke of a country. My instincts are always right, I Just act stupid and refuse to hear them.

Quote:not while Robkelk and no and Bob are here
Given this is my board on my website, it is extremely unlikely I will ever not be here.
And thank you for throwing a tantrum that demonstrates exactly why you were bounced from the wiki. You are not a five-year-old. Screaming and kicking and insulting people does not get you what you want in the real world.
Finally, congratulations for becoming the very first user in the 25-year history of this board to ever be banned for any reason. To be absolutely honest, I expected this from the moment I let you in. Your behavior is so pathetically consistent that it was never a matter of "if", but only of "how soon?"

These two sentences add hypocrisy to his list of failings.

I’m a bit late here, but I’ll reiterate what I sent via private message here a few months ago: There are other projects you can contribute to that would benefit from your skills and perspective.

Do we have a trope for a web comic that exists to set up a joke in the mouseover text, like this one?

Not many, at least of the ones that read. It might be too rare to trope.
