Gaijin's Realm goes home
Gaijin's Realm goes home
#1
Mark Shurtleff - aka Togashi Gaijin - has finally bowed to what he sees as the inevitable, and officially abandoned his fanfic writing.

Unfortunately this includes the rather well-liked "Relatively Absent", one of the more interesting Ranma/SailorMoon crossovers out there.

Saw that one coming a mile away. Pity, though- some of his stuff should've been finished, including Relatively Absent.

Maybe he'll miss it, and come back in a few years.

Yeah. Don't suppose anyone saved a copy of Relatively Absent?

He was rather opposed to that as I recall.

Ah, the 'take your ball and go home' school of fandom exiting.

It's certainly his prerogative to do so. That doesn't make it any less crap for those of us who's crystal ball didn't warn us that we needed to
archive their site if we hoped to ever see those works again.

New resolution: Spider Everything.

I can't believe I'm considering whacking together a database system just for freakin' fanfiction...

I have a copy, and at least one other fellow on the TV Tropes Wiki -- Comartemis -- does as well, and has volunteered to email it to anyone who wants it.

I also have a copy of "Ten of Two", but I don't think I stored anything else of his... come to that, I can't think of anything else of his.

May I add in a request for both RA and Ten of Two?

Perhaps send them to the guy at this site?

Well, he doesn't specifically say that he doesn't want people sharing them by email, just that he doesn't want them on archives.

Personally, I'm of the school that making such demands automatically causes me to lose the level of a respect for the author that would be required for me
to do what they asked...

I share that opinion. On the other hand I rarely archive stories, so I do not usually have the opportunity to do anything.

edit: Wayback
has the site thankfully.

Edit-Edit: But only one of the stories sadly, Does anyone have Miko?

Eh. Once you make a story public domain, you don't get take backs.

Correction, once it is on the net it will never go down, this is quite different from it being in public domain, though i agree the net effect is roughly the
same, the differences only apparent after half a million in lawyer's fees.

If I get a chance, I will forward copies tonight when I get home. And I will check my archives to find out if I have anything other than RA and TOT.

AKITO!

Bluemage, Norway -- if you could email me your addresses just in case I don't have them. At work I have no way of checking, and I'm feeling paranoid right now about it.

I'd appreciate it if you would send it to me as well(ranchaosson@yahoo.com), especially since Gaijin's Realm is no longer on the wayback machine.

It disappeared from the Wayback Machine? Yow, he's quite determined to stalinize his fic writing, isn't he?

Email has just been sent, btw. I hope I got everyone.

I did happen to save Miko. (what I have is two chapters, so unless there were more, that was all there
was.)

Also have the single chapter of Wyrm and eleven chapters of Relatively
Absent. (I think have the last versions that were on the website...)

Most of it wasn't on the Wayback Machine anyway. Excluded by robots.txt .
