		[Where I Watch] Sailor Moon

		09-05-2009, 12:15 AM

So, over on the rpg.net Other Media boards (registration required), user Shadowjack has been watching the Sailor Moon anime from the beginning and giving a hilarious breakdown of each episode and his thoughts on the series as he goes. He just reached the end of the Jadeite arc which he capped off with this:
 ![[Image: RecapA-1.gif]](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa305/secondgryphon/Sketches/RecapA-1.gif) ![[Image: RecapA-2.gif]](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa305/secondgryphon/Sketches/RecapA-2.gif) ![[Image: RecapA-3.gif]](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa305/secondgryphon/Sketches/RecapA-3.gif) ![[Image: RecapA-4.gif]](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa305/secondgryphon/Sketches/RecapA-4.gif) ![[Image: RecapA-5.gif]](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa305/secondgryphon/Sketches/RecapA-5.gif) ![[Image: RecapA-6.gif]](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa305/secondgryphon/Sketches/RecapA-6.gif)

Seriously, registration is free and this thread is worth reading form the beginning. It's hilarious. I also recommend [Where I Watch] Bleach

		It's funny because it's true.
 "Our Lady of Smoking Craters"

"Contestant #3: Rei, a Shinto maiden of local repute"

"This leads me to the entirely logical conclusion that her husband is Cthulhu."

*is dying* Okay, now I have to see the Bleach version.

"so I know that this is Mamoru, dedicated trainspotter and Miami Vice fan."
 Oh, that's not fair...

 ...to trainspotters.

I dunno -- three-year-old Usagi on a leash going "Doggy!" is pretty cute. The "Fate keeps shoving them" pic is good, too.

He's right on the money, too, about Ami. I remember the episode where she beat the pants off of Mamoru in a one-on-one fight...

They don't use leashes like that here in Japan though - that seems to be an Americanism. Rather, I would imagine instead one of those
Buttons-Chases-Mindy shorts from Animaniacs, with Usagi as Mindy and Tsukino-san as Buttons.

I'll have to investigate...

I've been reading the "In Which I Watch Sailor Moon" thread... Today's bonus sketch, just before the satiric recap of episode 20, is a Crossover That Should Not Be: ![[Image: Mystery.jpg]](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa305/secondgryphon/Sketches/Mystery.jpg)
(Scary how well the correspondences work...)
Edit: Speaking of satiric recap of episode 20:
 Quote:Rei /throws the ball at Usagi.--Usagi /falls down. "OW!"
Ami /throws the ball at Usagi.
 Usagi /falls down. "OW!"
Luna /throws the ball at Usagi.
 Usagi /falls down. "OW!"
Usagi: "When did it become Pummel Usagi Week?"
Luna: "Consider this part of your Anything Goes Martial Arts Training!"

Mamoru (transformed to Tuxedo Mask): I'm sorry, this has never happened to me before...
Girl he's in bed with: You don't say!

Fortunately, I was smart enough not to have anything in my mouth when I read that.

Oh, and Luna picking the girls up and dropping them in a shoebox....

I SWEAR I've seen the "Teasing Orson Scott Card" comic, except with "Lesbians" instead of "Gay Boyfriends" somewhere else...''We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat

The elven wizard Vaarsuvius likes using the Explosive Runes spell; it creates a short message on any surface that goes BOOM when someone reads it.
His standard message is "I prepared Explosive Runes this morning."

Dralm help me, it's really hard to pick out a single favorite scene or line from this installment. It's all gold. Front-runners are Usagi and Rei arguing over their relationship with Mamoru; Beryl's line, "Once you go non-Euclidean, it's
hard to go back"; Makoto's trouble finding a guy; and Ami's thoughts when invited to Makoto's kung fu class.
