I should have been flagging this, but the updates are coming almost daily. They're short, though, so even though there's something close to 30 chapters now it's not a huge amount of reading:

A recap, for those who didn't spot it a few weeks ago in the new fics thread: After Petunia Dursley loses her first child to a miscarriage, Vernon divorces her and she is left on her own -- until she finds her sister Lily's son on her doorstep. A sadder and wiser Petunia embraces the child and raises him with love. Story is currently somewhere between Harry's first accidental magic and his 11th birthday, and is well worth the read. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. 
How's the general feel and tone of that? Not sure if want.

I like it. It's sweet without being cloying, a little sad in places without being bittersweet, and it shows a Petunia determined not to repeat the mistakes of her past with Harry. (One of the recent installments, the one where Harry had his first accidental magic and she made the decision to tell him everything she knew about the magical world, ends with her swearing to find some way to keep Harry's best friend/playmate in the loop so that the estrangement of the Evans sisters doesn't repeat a generation later.) The chapters are little more than brief vignettes, almost snapshots taken every few months, each in its way an important moment in Harry's life, Petunia's life, or both. The melancholy of the early chapters has faded, although the tone has remained serious -- but without being grim or gritty.

A Bright and Bitter Flame: Lucy's throwdown with the Paleozoic Scorpion God! Fairly short, slightly anticlimactic even, but in classic Lucy fashion her solution creates another problem.
