I succesfully did a thing. It's the first time I did a thing in a long time.

Right now it runs off an external power supply, since it doesn't retain the time, and the motherboard inerts USB ports on shutdown. But it fits and looks pretty.

True excellence would be getting it to read system time or some other stroke of genius but that's beyond me.

I love the smell of rotaries in the morning. You know one time, I got to work early, before the rush hour. I walked through the empty carpark, I didn't see one bloody Prius or Golf. And that smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole carpark, smelled like.... ....speed.

One day they're going to ban them.

Only if you don't pay attention to electrical terminology. AAs and most other cylindrical "batteries" are properly called "cells". A 9-volt is actually a literal battery, which means a set of cells wired together for higher voltage. Lantern batteries are also genuine batteries -- inside them are four cells ("E" cells, IIRC, bigger than D cells) wired in sequence.

Thanks.

Nixie clocks are fairly common out on the web - in a number of styles. This one just happened to be the right exact size to fit in a drive bay.

It's gotten hard to find PC cases with optical drive bays these days.

It's been 40 years, there wasn't a statute of limitations?

There is for state law, but 18 U.S. Code § 1341 is federal law.

my first thought was 'but billards tables have holes too?' then I read the link you included.  I don't think I've ever heard of that variant before.  Interesting .

Neat to hear that the cops were still looking for (and finally found) L.W. Wright as well.

Well on the one side, you have some tryhard edgelord type, probably just itching to go on and on about his tragic backstory. On the other, you have a regular fella enjoying a quiet pint. I know which one I'd rather share a table with after a long day of travel in monster infested wilderness, and it's not the one who uses wording like "crown of bone and blades."
