All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXX
RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXX
I was about to write a statement to give him, but a bit of nomenclature came up...

Since we now use the Moderation add-in, continuing to call the wiki's bureaucrats the "Moderation Staff" might not be such a good idea. Should we rename ourselves? If we should, is "Bureaucrat Team" acceptable or is its use of the word "bureaucrat" a bad thing?

We've used "Admin team", "Admin staff" and "The Management" in the past...

Why not?

It would show we're not all formal and serious.

Yeah, some formality is needed... "Admin team", maybe?

(Or "Admin Team Seaslug"?)

"Original Tropes" and "The True Tropes" have been merged into Tropedia. Who understands the tabber well enough to update ATT's Main Page?

Whatever will Doc Colress do without a private forum in which to badmouth ATT?

He'll just have to accept that people will disagree with him, and accept that disagreement is not hatred.

Anyway.

Back to our current tempbanned troper. I propose this as the wording for his followup warning:

GethN7 has pointed out that "we have given this user more chances than TV Tropes would to moderate their tone in line with the same level of courtesy and keeping their feelings in check" (his exact words).

You are getting ''one'' more chance. But only one.

When your tempban expires, you will remain On Notice. ''Any'' violation of ''any'' rule, policy, or guideline will be grounds for a permanent ban from editing here. (You have been editing here for long enough that you should already know where to find the wiki's rules, policies, and guidelines, but we will point them out again: they are available in [https://allthetropes.org/wiki/Special:Pr...amespace=4 the All The Tropes namespace].)

If you find these conditions to be too onerous, perhaps you would feel more comfortable at another troping site such as [https://tvtropes.org/ TVTropes] or [https://tropedia.fandom.com/wiki/Tropedia Tropedia].

I reached a milestone today, regarding the number of files without re-use licences that we have.

It's under nine thousand!

(Specifically, as I type this, it's 8,999.)

I think that's enough wiki cleanup for today... Smile

Congratulations! It’s important work to move on from the system that the wiki was left with.

Hey, what's the trope for a Lupin Cast Xerox?  That is, a Caper Crew which is an obvious ripoff of Lupin III.

The obvious one is Cowboy Bebop.  Edward is Lupin, which is why the tone is so much different, but once she grows up she'll be stealing stuff before they know it's gone.

I came across this image from Princess Principal too, which is pretty good but Charlotte is pretty obviously Lupin and Ange is Jigen.

Could be some kind of stock shout-out?

... I mean, if the way you structure and characterize your primary cast is a shout-out, I guess so

The closest we have is Similar Squad, in which the cast runs into an almost identical group to themselves during their adventures.

We don't seem to have an existing trope for duplicating the cast in a new show, but I suppose something like "Expy Cast" or "Cast of Expies" would be a good name for it...

Rejected some crypto spam. Not sure it needs a post on the user page, but I figured I’d note it here to be sure.

No problem at all. Most crypto scammers have left us be since we stop their idiocy in its tracks with the Moderation extension, but the occasional stubborn or desperate one still tries to get through. Just quietly reject it and that's all.

Just a heads up -- we have someone playing games with new accounts. At 6:57 PM EDT last night (11/2) and 6:57 AM EST today, accounts were created with the names, respectively, Fireplacesandstovesuk1259 and Fireplacesandstovesuk6131, who identify themselves on their user pages by different "real" names.

Is that supposed to be parsed as "Fireplaces and stoves uk" or "Fireplaces and stove suk"? Either way, I'm expecting ad-spam from them.

So... the new user who showed up just to ask us to provide "translations" of the main page into British and Canadian English... troll, massive troll, or just an idiot?

EDIT: Just checked. "Lory Huang" created their account more than a month ago, and that request is their first and only edit. Spammer, possibly testing for an avenue of slipping something in?
