Ugh, the "krypto the runt" guy came back. I just permabanned him and rejected all his edits as spam:

Thanks, Geth.

Just in case we don't notice the next try, I've preemptively protected the pages "krypto the runt" and "Krypto the Runt" from being created on the grounds that the work doesn't exist.

He also created another "JJ"-prefixed account from the one you banned, so I banned it as well.

On the larger subject of thwarting him elsewhere, Fandom hasn't done anything about the pages I told them about three weeks ago. <shrug> Their loss. IMDb deleted the bogus show page he created there when I informed them of it at the same time. I also just discovered that he added "Krypto the runt" as half a dozen or more alternate international titles to "Krypto the Superdog", so I've submitted a page edit to delete them.

And they've been purged now.

So... "The Kirk". Should it be renamed?

I started the discussion two days ago:
Quote:Considering the events of early-September 2025 in the USA, I suspect that Star Trek is no longer the first thing that people think of when they hear the family name Kirk. On the other hand, the Kirk/Spock/McCoy characters and their interactions are known even outside of SF fan circles.

As of this posting, the count is four people who think a rename is a good idea (although the concern is more Trope Namer Syndrome than confusion with Real Life) and one person who doesn't see the need for a rename. Normally I'd give it another day and -- assuming the vote remains close to the same proportions -- say "the Tropers have spoken; rename it is". However... we don't have a replacement name for "the 'ego' character in a Freudian Trio".

If anybody does have an idea for a rename, please post it to the discussion so that the Tropers can hash it out. (We'd also need new name proposals for The Spock and The McCoy, for consistency.) If anybody thinks the name shouldn't be changed, please say so in the discussion.

Turns out we weren't the only Miraheze wiki he tried to hit -- this CheckUser request over on the Meta Stewards Board reveals just how busy he's been. Fortunately, they've managed to smack down most if not all the sockpuppets this guy is using.

I know that playing with a trope is a thing, but this might, maybe, play with a trope a little too much. Or it might not.

is this fan art an example of Scooby Stack?

(If it isn't, then should we delete Scooby Stack/Image Links? The only entry on that page, as I type this, is a dead link.)

I think you are correct. The essential element of the trope is that they are peaking around a corner to look at something. If there is no corner or similar obstacle to look around, and they are posing rather than looking, I don’t see this as the trope, even loosely or in spirit. Nice fanart though.

Thanks.

A different sort of question: Do we want illustrations to break up the wall of text that is The Big List of Booboos and Blunders?

Asking because this strip illustrates eruption/irruption.

Oh joy. Miraheze is so far down that not even Meta is working. "Something went wrong/Error 503 Backend fetch failed" pages everywhere I look.

A user made a change to the main page. It appears mostly harmless, since it just added a random category, but I figured it was worth noting.

That's extremely unusual, since the main page is protected so that only administrators can edit it...

* robkelk goes and looks

User:Paladox is a Miraheze sysadmin. I assume there's a reason for the edit, although I'm not aware of what that reason might be.

I just gave "Pregler Lupa" a one-month tempban for repeating actions that previously warranted a tempban.

Milkman Conspiracy noticed and left a message on PL's talk page. All I did was drop the hammer and reject the outstanding edits in the moderation queue. My, but the mod queue is suddenly a lot more manageable.
