Ring around a star

And the star is Fomalhaut, only 25ly from Sol. Wouldn't want to live there, though - apparently, the system's going through its Late Heavy Bombardment phase. ("Today's weather: cloudy, with a 10% chance of multiple dino-killer meteor strikes.")

I'm thinking that this probably happened years ago in Fenspace:

Yeah, but our Lenin's a gas giant... welp, gotta update the wiki I guess.

Which works, given that so many of us see Lenin as a gasbag with to much internal gravitas.
Hear that thunder rolling till it seems to rock the sky?
Thats' every ship in Grayson's Navy taking up the cry!

It could have been worse - at least this doesn't invalidate any stories.

Noah Scott would think building such a system is patently absurd.

Helen Scott would ask which planets the construction crew wanted to start with.

A wee bit of a soundtrack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3U_PbbjMJk

I love the smell of rotaries in the morning. You know one time, I got to work early, before the rush hour. I walked through the empty carpark, I didn't see one bloody Prius or Golf. And that smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole carpark, smelled like.... ....speed.

One day they're going to ban them.

Nanoha has often been called "Gundam as a magical girl show", so I'm not surprised.

Astronomers announce they've discovered another twelve moons orbiting Jupiter.

Because Jupiter didn't have enough moons already. Smile

Of the two stories I've about this found so far, The Register has the more intelligent one overall, while CBC goes into more depth.

One that I expect does not happen in Fenspace: The Canadian Space Commerce Association has declared itself insolvent and has ceased operations.
Quote:The CSCA official stressed that the decision is not indicative of Canadian commercial space in general.
