the worst.... the absolute worst is when some kids ball bounces and lands at your feet and they say. "Hey Mister, throw us the ball," You look around.... but there's no-one there but you.

'Mister' is my da. My da's 50-odd.

That makes not-quite-50 me feel old... but given a choice between growing old and the alternative, I like feeling old.

I picked up a nasty little habit from when I was in the service. It's 'Don't call me Sir, please. I work for a living.'

It stuck.

If they call me 'Sir', I call them 'Whelp'. (Half of them don't even know the word.)
